Abuse of any kind is never the victim's fault bcuz the perpetrator chose to do it. People seriously need to stop using the "He/she asked for it." card.

Excellent! I was groomed my entire childhood to think my being molested at age 11 was my idea. I believed I was a complicit evil freak of nature until the age of 53. This lie was preferable to being a "victim." I literally had to become a victim to be free of the shame of being victimized. I've been guilty of saying I had to become a victim before I could be a survivor. Thank you for setting me straight and for taking the shame away from victims and bestowing it rightfully and completely where it belongs...on the perpetrators. From now on l will be an unashamed victim as I continue to thrive.

OMG I was assaulted 26 yrs ago and he molested other teens and girls and now he's in prison for 26 years. So good to come forward even if its many years later because these creeps most often don't stop. Good for you coming forward !! God bless you Dani.

Kim D I was accused of physically and sexually abusing my old roommates grandchild after my father tried to rape me...I feel like admitting to one would admit to the other even though I could never put that excruciating pain onto someone else. The roommate had told me prior to her accusations that she is a sociopath...and they are too good at silencing others. I don't want my brother's gfs kids hurt by him cuz my bro either doesn't believe me and/or reaally needs money and I wouldn't be suprised if the kids go there sometime. The cops pointed their finger at me last time I tried to stop him from hurting me...and other people with kids also think he's a good person :(

Instead of blaming victims, the Right ? To ask is: Why did the predator take so long to report his crime, confess his sin, apologize/make amends for wrongdoing?
@CaptainBones222 Жыл бұрын
Because they're literally the perpetrators who don't care and won't turn themselves in because they want to get away with it. So whether you like it or not, it's up to victims to report them to the police because they won't report themselves.

Great insight. To hold a perp accountable, you must identify the victim. It is never the victim’s fault.

I've no idea what to do. My Perl was my doctor he knew about my history of abuse and groomed me and was very careful. What can I do? I've tried to find help only to be told I was a mistress or it was an affair. I'm in pain everyday. It didn't start clicking until it happened from another doctor. What do I do. I'm ashamed
@Luna1011j7 жыл бұрын
Don't be ashamed. I know that's easier said than done, but you have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. What happened to you was not your fault. I would suggest finding a counselor to talk to, if you can. If you're in college, most of them have counselors available for free in the student health center. A counselor can help you get past some of the shame and help you process what happened, as well as starting to treat any other effects the abuse may have had (anxiety, etc.). You can also always call sexual violence hotlines. If you're in the US, a good one is the RAINN crisis hotline, which is 1(800)656-4673. Their website also has online chat available almost 24/7. Good luck to you. I hope you find the support you need and deserve, and I want you to know that there are many people out there who will believe, support, and help you.

Dani needs some advanced therapy to relinquish the entire victim narrative. Everyone in life is a victim to something, one way or another. Sexual activities endured by a youngster unaware of what's going is a shame. However, what else did we as children have to learn more about as we aged? Anything can be traumatic as a child, even being picked last on a dodgeball team, or bullied before math class. The past is the past, but it's how you shape your perspective now to really advance ahead of it. Try some cannabis, or even better: psilocybin. These hollistic type medicines clear the negative past to help you see the very bright future.

No. It is not like getting picked last in dodge ball, actually.
