Victor Borge was absolutely brilliant. He was not only a really good musician but also an amazing comedian ... and like all comedians he had certain routines that he would do over and over again throughout the years purely because they are comedy gold. This is a rabbit hole I can wholeheartedly recommend you all to dive into because it will give you hours of pleasure.

Victor Borge was a Danish-American comedian & pianist. I have watched quite a few of his routines. What a funny talented man he was. Sadly he died in 2000 but he left a great legacy. One of Borge's famous routines was called "Phonetic Punctuation" in which he read a passage from a book & added exaggerated sound effects to stand for most of the main punctuation marks, such as periods, commas & exclamation marks. It is very funny.

Totally agree, that is his best routine. Timeless.

I'm Danish, and I have always loved Victor Borge. I remember many years ago, he was playing for the Danish queen, at her birthday, and somehow, subtly every song he played slowly transitioned into "Happy Birthday, Dear Queen..." and it was so well done that people didn't notice they were suddenly singing Happy Birthday. Imagine the amount of skill it takes to play so frigging well, and at the same time play around with it, and the constant interruptions, and within a single beat, getting back to playing perfectly. He was a fantastic, skillful pianist!

How that operatic singer was able to sing & keep a straight face without giggling and falling over laughing is commendable. 😂 ❤

This wasn't her first time doing it. If you can find their first performance of it, she did hold it together quite as well. 😂

As a fellow dane, I love Victor Borge. He had such charm and vit. I remember being 10 years old and my parents told me I was completely gone laughing every time he was on the screen.

I have been a fan of Victor Borge for my whole life. I was lucky enough to see him live. He had classic routines that he performed regularly. Part of his show was his seriously playing classic piano, but other times he would completely mess with the music. Then you add his stand-up comedy and it was a show that I will never forget. He was a brilliant entertainer and musician! RIP Mr. Borge.

My hometown has deep roots back to Denmark so our Community Concert organization would have Victor Borge come to town every couple of years and do a show. A family membership was only like fifty dollars so we had one every year which gave us admission to all of the events they had. This was the days before cable and such so I went to a lot of shows that might seem odd to people now. What I remember about Victor was he could make classical music fun and you would laugh until your sides hurt at one of his shows. Truly a great musician and comedian well worth listening to more of his work.

Victor once started his show by saying "I have been criticised for not playing a musical piece the whole way through. I would like to announce that tonight will be no different."

One of the best concerts I ever went to, having grown up in the late 60's as a teenager I was lucky enough to have seen many of the greats. Pink Floyd, the Rolling Stones, Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Heart and sooo many more, I was truly blessed. Victor was non stop amazing. Thanks for this one guys as always you were great. I was lucky enough to see Victor Borge in the '80s and though he did the same stuff that we in England had seen so many times on tv in the '60s and '70s he was still outrageously funny. Skillful but with the confidence to allow himself to appear silly. A wonderfully light touch.

My fellow Dane. He grew up in the same neighborhood as my uncle. His real name was Boerge Rosenbaum, he was Jewish and escaped to the US during WWll, even though most Danish Jewish manage to escape to a neutral Sweden. He would often go back to Denmark and perform, if you understand both Danish and English he did a wonderful job of playing with both languages.

ANYTHING involving Victor Borge is wonderful. He was a consummate pianist, but his comedic timing was perfect. I stand to be corrected, but anytime I heard him introduced, his last name was pronounced "Bore-ga". You two are irresistible!! 😁😁👍

Although Victor Borge was a master at piano, you seldom heard him play a full piece seriously - being the genius comedian he also was. One of his common things was to play or incorporate the song "happy birthday to you" in any classical composer's style, whether it would be Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, Chopin or any other, and it would sound as if they actually wrote it. His shows were shown on TV in Sweden as well when I was younger and I loved it. Cheers!
