We don't get this kind of entertainment anymore. He was so talented in so many ways. I am glad we have videos of him to enjoy and laugh. Especially now.

Fantastic so many english speaking people love his humour!!!! As a child I watched Mr Borge on TV at Christmas. Afterwards we would go play in the falling snow. Danes are very proud of his humour still!

My mother, Josephine Emily Phillips, was a genuine lover of the performing arts. She was raised on classical music in the Twenties and Thirties and she, like my dad Joseph J. Phillips, enjoyed music and comedy of all sorts. My parents even paid good money for me to take piano lessons, but two or three teachers later, the attempt was abandoned. LOL My stubby "sausage" fingers simply could not be trained to do what the music in my brain commanded. Nevertheless, I had inherited my parents' deep love for both music and comedy, so the arrival of our first television set (a gigantic twenty-one inch black and white set, no less) brought Ed Sullivan and Victor Borge into our living room. My mom, being a patron of the arts, helped to found, and fund, the Kokomo (Indiana) Community Concerts in the early Sixties. KCC was a new organization dedicated to bringing classical music performances to our small, culturally- challenged blue-collar community in Central Indiana. Suffice to say, Kokomo really embraced and attended the concerts that she brought to our town. In late 1964, after I had returned to Kokomo following a multi-year tour at a military spy base overseas, my first Community Concert attendance with my parents was none other than our family favorite musical comedy act Victor Borge himself. The problem at the time was that Kokomo seriously lacked a sufficiently large concert venue. The only place available for our sold-out audience was the Kokomo High School Memorial Gymnasium! The acoustics were awful, the unpadded wooden bleachers were decidedly uncomfortable for theater goers, and the uncarpeted hard maple floor caused a reverberation that made even Victor's softest notes sound harsh. Nevertheless, like the true professional and good natured trooper that he was, Victor only made one small comment about welcoming his eager and loyal audience to "this gym!" We, and the entire audience of several hundred roared with understanding laughter, and Borge's classical musical comedy went forward, echoes and all, to everyone's delight.

I laughed so hard I was crying. Arguably the best comedy routine with classical music.
Got to watch him perform live in the 1960's, from row-2, and was able to take my terminally-ill mother. One of the best things we ever got to do together. Incredible performer.

Woah! Awesome! You went to a Victor Borge concert? What a wonderful thing! To be around so many happy people just a laughing and a giggling till their sides hurt! Shucks! I just wish their was another guy like him, with good clean sanitary humor as Borge had!

thank you so much for uploading this. I used to have a video tape of one of his concerts in Germany, joking in German but not quite as fluently as in English. I used to watch this with my family laughing out loud every time again. The only other tapes we loved that much was Danny Kaye directing a symphony orchestra (also to be found here on youtube) or one of Herman van Veen's concerts. Musical clowns all three of them. Today, Victor would probably explain the sounds of smileys XD
