"Mousetrap Jesus"! I'm not worried about running out of mousetraps or firearms to learn about. There's just more than a person could catalog in a lifetime. Well, Shaun might get through all the domestically produced commercial mousetraps at his current pace, but mousetraps have existed since time immemorial. I don't think he'll ever out of international, historical, and handmade/curio traps.

You should do something like a "Dougscore" a rating system for traps, including how hard is it to release the trapped mice.

Ratings are meaningless imo. It's either would you recommend the product or not, and simply compare it to other traps similar to what it was designed for so the viewer can decide what's better for their need.

I really love your vids!! My mom had a bad mouse problem, I had given her one of these traps and it worked like a charm! My gentle, kind, loving mom was also a crazy cat lady... (at one time she was feeding up to around 80+ cats) So she would take the full mousetrap outside at feeding time...(You get the picture...) I ended up with a mouse problem in Salem and thought hey I'll get one of 'those' traps and be rid of the problem.... *HA* Not only did it NOT work but I found some selfies of mice standing in front of the trap flipping me off... Not only that but we had several indoor cats who thought that mice were just cool little toys!! I wish I would've known about your channel then!!! Thank you Shawn!

Out of curiosity, do you check the trailcam footage of the traps before you record the release or do you just identify the species of the mice during the recording? Also, you have a really good personality/format that is really relaxing to watch, would you ever make a different channel or post different kinds of videos to this channel. My family has used these before, and we noticed that after setting the trap a couple times the mice were finding a way to pop the lids up just enough to escape. The solution for us was to use rubber bands or duck tape to hold it down.

I tried that with tape and I put a little work out sand bag on top of the traps. They ate the bait in two traps next to each other and somehow got out still.

I've been catching shrews with a trap like this (got some videos of them on my channel). The shrews are much smaller and lighter than mice, so I figure they've been squeezing by the long part of the ramp and then just exiting freely. I've ended up adding some washers to the long ramp: it would be balanced to just stay up by the friction with the short part, but once the shrew climbs on it, it would go down, lock the entrance and stay that way. Still not a 100% success but eventually I've caught the whole family.

Very nice! Tfs! I jave a mole problem. A bad one. Just recently purchased a property and the entire yard and garden is tunneled. Would a trap like this work on moles ya think? I used one of these once for a mouse in my house and we forgot about it so when we did check the trap the mouse was dead. So if the mouse dies in the trap, does that still make it a live catch trap?

Have you ever thought of giving each trap you test a score based on certain qualities and uploading them to a spreadsheet so your viewers can see which traps are the best and worst to your opinion? This could be helpful if your viewers happened to be trap shopping. Another KZbinr named Doug DeMuro uses this idea and calls it a "Doug" score when he reviews various cars. Just thought it was a cool concept that adds more to the content and allows viewers to engage a little bit more.

Also, (and I may be mistaken) maybe this is something you could ask for us, Mr. Woods, wouldn't a plastic non kill trap actually be classified as 'inhumane'? Isn't plastic poisonous? SDD525 Thanks, Sounds like we are doing everything that we can. We are using repellent, and trapping with the iron spring kill traps. Just need to work on the natural predators. Do you have any suggestions on how to attract the natural predators ? I will be doing my homework on it. Thanks again !
