Only problem with catch & release method, which I've done, is that mice can return and find their way back from as far as 6 miles away when released, some from further points. They have a keen sense of direction and if they have food, shelter in a known place, they'll return to it.

a word of warning about metal bodied traps is the metal sucks the heat out of the rodents so if the air is cool, they die quickly of hypothermia. The way to solve this is to put a piece of cardboard like from a cereal box on the floor of the trap for them to stand on instead of the bare metal. Sometimes the ramps or the little doors get jammed or rusted so before you add bait or water, hold it upside-down and shake it to make sure gravity is enough to close the flap doors when upside down but the doors open again when upside right.

I have no idea what happened with these for me. They seemed to be awesome and I caught a ton of mice with 4 different ones around the house, but all of a sudden in the morning all the food is gone and no mice. One of the sides they go into is broken on 3 of them and the 4th one looks fine but again..food gone no mice. So I have been looking at your videos for ones that are more reliable long term. Thanks for putting these out. There is NO way I can kill them so I am glad there are other alternatives.

Very nice, concise and helpful review! You know, I always hate taking the dead little guys out of traditional mousetraps we have around here... this is a cool solution. Don't really want to kill them anyway... I just want them to live somewhere other than here. Oh, and thanks for the little educational bits. I never knew that mice tend to run along walls and not across open spaces. Cool facts. Keep up the good work. Hope to see more videos soon! Oh, and I like your hair man! Later. ~David

Yes, peanut butter works very well for catching mice (American mice anyway, lol) and it is hard to find out of the US. When I was in college I spent a semester in Europe, and it was about the only thing I missed during the three months I was there. Using the peanut butter to lure the mouse into the trap is a good idea, but only use a little bit (just smearing the residue along the floor or on the trap entrance is enough) I you use too much the mouse will get full before he even goes in.

These have always worked for me! The frustrating point is they stopped making/selling the corner version that takes up so little space & is hidden under overhangs in North America! Someone that makes these has to start building them again, their importing them individually from China for $100 a pop with shipping!

Have you experimented with Tomcat Mouse Attractant? I picked it up on a whim and it's odd, but works... I can't smell it at all. Would be curious to know if offered Tomcat Mouse Attractant in one trap and peanut butter in another, which the mice would go for first? Keep up the great work Mousetrap Genius... another area we're working on is catching mice in a honey bee apiary... a broad area of interest... Happy New Year!

I have one of these, and it works excellently, even when I don't meant it to. It catches mice without bait when I have put it away. I've caught three in one night. It works superbly. It is sturdy, durable, and can be disassembled to clean. I prefer catch-and-release, and it works. I've tried two or three other brands, and this is by far the best.Aterrific product.

I like the idea of this trap however I can say that for me and my tiny mice this trap did not work. I checked the trap today and found lots of mouse poops in and around the trap but no mice in it. I had an idea this would happen when I felt this inside of the mechanism. The metal ramps the mice run up are very stiff and there is enough room for a smaller mice to pull themselves back up and simply leave. I think this would work well for larger mice but for me and my smaller house mice it did not.

About a year ago two friends of mine died unexpectedly within six months of each other. After that, all life suddenly seemed too precious to just throw away. I haven't been able to kill much of anything since then, except maybe mosquitos. But I wouldn't have killed mice before then anyway. I had them as pets when I was a kid, so that's still what I see when I find a wild one.

Thank you for the great demo, and most of all, for not killing them. :-) I use the Mice Cubes (12), and they work GREAT. I catch on average 3-4 a day from garage or attic. I have caught 204 to date, and hopefully with the weather getting hotter, I can finally rest. LOL I will try the multi version (clear top) also, especially since I have some smarty pants that aren't easily fooled. UPDATE: So I received traps and have caught several mice, so it works GREAT... that's the Pros. CONS: It's nice to be able to see inside the trap (I have the clear top version), but you can't see inside the tunnels, so you end up shaking/tilting it. Also harder to release when they are hiding in the tunnels.

I don't think it does. I'm fairly sure that this is a deer mouse species of the genus Peromyscus, while pet mice are domesticated forms of house mice, Mus musculus. In comparison to house mice, the deer mice have larger eyes in proportion to their heads, often a bright white underside with clear demarcation between top and bottom coat colours(house mice are often just lighter underneath, not white), and their tails are darker on the top side than the bottom. I like mice xD

Worked very good for a very short time but for some reason the metal that the mouse walks on and drops down with the mouse and springs back up trapping the mouse, stopped retracing completely and the mice could get hold of the edge and pull it down and escape. Would not recommend it to anyone. Maybe give it one star. Glen in Utah.

It is a great idea but the retracting springs needs some serious improvement. It is useless with out the ramp retracting completely. Both end ramps did the same thing. Really dissapointed in it.

***** I don't want a rodent and MICE DO NOT CARRY DISEASES...that is a lie and a myth...As well, very few diseases are transmittable between species...
@ViralTuber
@ViralTuber 7 жыл бұрын
It doesn't matter if mice "carry diseases" or not. Being healthy and sanitary isn't about word misdirection or semantics. Being smart about health safety also has nothing to do with which animals are cute. The bottom line is mice can transmit a few deadly diseases, and can indirectly transmit other diseases via ticks and fleas. ...Not to mention an intelligent person should innately sense that having unchecked numbers of ANY mammals peeing and pooping _(literally)_ everywhere around their domicile is unhealthy. I have to cringe imagining someone's domicile, if they're out promoting mice as being healthful neighbors. I could probably just lean my head in blindfolded and take a sniff, and identify the house of a mouse lover. mice transmit: Lymphocytic Choriomeningitis (LCMV), Hantavirus, Salmonella (and indirectly) Colorado Tick Fever, Lyme Disease, Rickettsialpox, Babesiosis

The advantage of this type trap is not its "humanity", it is that one can set it out for a couple days if need be without needing to check it. 2 caveats: 1) If you leave it out too long, the starved & finally rotted mice will be pretty "yucky" to clean out, and, letting them starve is rather cruel. 2) If a dead mouse ends up under a "plank", then others can get out. ----As for humanity, let me be clear, I in no way support unnecessary sadistic cruelty toward animals, but mice spread disease and just generally can ruin stored food and various items. Anyone who is such a snowflake that they can't kill a mouse is going to be at a severe disadvantage when, not if, the going gets rough for humanity.
