Wow, its amazing to see something this old still kicking. Also a bit weird to see a record player without the automatic disk changer
@DanteTimberwolf2 жыл бұрын
The first record changers came out in the late 20s but went relatively unnoticed for quite some time. They would often end up breaking records (I have a few 78s with damage from record changers). They didn't become very popular until the 80s when hard Shellac records were completely replaced by flexible vinyl records

@@SRBONUS1912 78s went out of style in the late 1950s. Some companies continued making them until the mid 1960s, but these are very rare.

You're destroying your vinyl! Never use machines like this on records, wouldn't be surprised if it never played again after this video. You can hear the "tone arm" ripping apart the grooves.

Also, there is no vinyl record in this video. This is a shellac record.
@CPorter Жыл бұрын
FIrstly, this is shellac, not Vinyl. Weak as hell vinyl like your average 33 or 45 wouldn't even be used for 78s until the 1950s. Secondly, I'm actually having a hard time understand how you get to this rediculous conclusion that hiss and crackle found upon the surface of nearly any record in existence, that's being reproduced clearly here, could somehow indicate destruction by itself. If there was any of that, you'd be able to clearly see the grooving getting destroyed. That would be the case if he played something from 1949 on this machine rather than something period correct like this record.
