For several years now I’ve argued that I no longer believe in ranking players from different eras all in one group compared to each other. The way the game is played has completely changed with each decade in ways that I think are pretty drastic.. it’s not necessarily that one era is better than another in my view , I see it as evolution happens because players start coming into the league each era who are different than anything they had seen before so then the league has to evolve to matchup with what these new players or teams are doing therefore new skillsets start having value . So in my opinion because evolution works that way the game always evolves forward I’m not like an old head who thinks all the players had better fundamentals back then therefore they are better I think the fundamentals needed have changed but I also don’t blame past eras for being great at what they needed to be great at to perform at the highest level in their eras and it’s unfair to say they aren’t as good as a new era player when things hadn’t evolved yet. 2nd when comparing the amount of championships, awards won and stats of players from different eras each NBA season is different , there’s a different pace the league plays at which results in different numbers , different candidates to compete against for awards, different circumstances in the playoffs. We act like it’s all completely the same . Lastly it’s a TEAM sport . I don’t always believe it’s true that one player is better than another. The value of the individual is dependent on what the team needs. For example if you have a team full of scorers Bill Russell is more needed than Wilt , or Magic is more valuable to amplify those scorers than Jordan But if you have a team full of defenders Jordan or Durant is what that team needs more . If you have a team that needs a player to do a bit of everything LeBron or Jokic might be more valuable. There’s just so much nuance to ranking therefore I rank in tiers by decade and separate peaks and careers given one player may have been better than the other at a certain time in the decade or had a higher peak but one may have accomplished more or been better overall career/ accomplishments wise . Tier 1 Greatest of the Decade 20s Jokic (in progress) 10s LeBron career and peak 00s Duncan (career) Shaq (peak) 90s Jordan career and peak 80s Magic (career) Bird (peak) 70s Kareem career and peak 60s Russell (career) Wilt (peak) Tier 2 20s Giannis (in progress) 10s Steph(career) Durant (peak) 00s Kobe 90s Hakeem 80s Moses 70s Dr J (career w/ABA) Walton (peak) 60s West (career) Big O (peak) Tier 3 20s Luka/Embiid/Tatum (in progress) 10s Kawhi/Wade 00s Dirk/KG 90s Malone/Barkley/Robinson 80s Isiah/Gervin 70s Barry/Havlicek 60s Baylor I have close to no doubt if Wembanyama stays healthy enough to reach his peak and plays long to accumulate accomplishments for his career he will be tier 1. Btw he would likely rank as a 2030s player because if he had a just a 16 year career 6 seasons played in the 2020s and 10 in the 2030s and even though I think he will win mvps and possibly championships before his 7th season in 2029-30 is still think his peak will occur next decade. I don’t want to rank players twice for example LeBron/Jordan / Kareem etc all would belong in top 3 tiers for 2 different decades. I believe ranking like this is the most respectful way of breaking down NBA history and the nuance of the sport in general without getting in these pointless debates of guys who didn’t even play the same competition.

I agree with everything but now is it possible for Tim Duncan to have a greater career for the 2000s than Kobe when Kobe won 5 rings that decade and Duncan 3? Also Kobe was clearly the more iconic player and Kobe outplayed Tim Duncan consistently in head to head match ups. Idk it's weird that all of a sudden Tim Duncan's surpassed Kobe as the face of the 2000s that just was not the case. Kobe was a top 5 player for almost the entire decade by 2006 Duncan was out of that conversation. Kobe Dirk Nash KG Young LeBron

I believe that too, but I don’t see that happening in San Antonio tbh. They are wasting his rookie years by not being aggressive enough in FA. Pairing him up with someone like Trae Young would have been great. But they couldn’t get that done.

Castle 🏰 #5 plus Wemby 👽 #1 🟰 AREA 51 🔥 Victor Wembanyama and his Teammate Stephon Castle 🏰 have the best duo nickname in the history of all sports players. The Alien 👽 Victor Wembanyama will be the GOAT 🐐 of the NBA once he is done. He can play every position and his defense is as good or better than his offense. To say that he has an all around game is an understatement. Recording a 5x5 stat line in multiple games as a Rookie is insane. The Only other GOATS who have both offense and defense is Michael Jordan and Hakeem Olajuwon. And neither of them have Wemby’s 3 point shooting ability. Hakeem is the only other GOAT with the rare 5x5 stat line, and Wemby was already halfway to tying him All-Time in his Rookie season. Wemby is the GOAT 🐐, and he will have at least 6 championships when he is done, which will solidify his GOAT status over Michael Jordan.

All they do is worsen social gap, enrich the wealthy, take over the state, dismantle women's rights, increase gun violence, drug trafficking, diseases in general, sacrifice amd destroy the environment, reduce "culture" to religion, creationism and conservative values and use the military and police for internal repression See Mussolini, Stalin, Mao, Hitler, Salazar, Franco, pinochet, maduro, ortega, erdogan, netanyahu, jamenei, and now donaldito.

Finding the team to surround WemVP is not his responsibility. That is up to PATSFO. All WemVP needs to do is stay healthy and he'll provide the world the highlights. PATSFO needs to hurry up and provide the team for WemVP and not waste his YEAR 3 building a team around the next GOAT prospect.

Damn all the GOAT talk about a player that has yet to play two full seasons gets tiring. It’s not just this player or the NBA (same statements being made towards Jokic - who is by far a better player vs Wemby), but other sports are falling into the bold statements of this or that player being the GOAT or could one day be the GOAT. But I guess this is why KZbin and other social media exists….
