I think it's one of the first times I've seen someone adress his weaknesses like that, it helps to add context and while he's still generational it shows he can still improve, some people would have you believe he's a god without mentioning his flaws and even less how to work around them, thank you for that

@@cgee3156 my point is that most analysis of wemby barely mention the turnover rate, don't show clips, don't mention the three point spot up three problem and even less why it happens In most analysis people will make you think wemby is flawless and everything you could ask in a player when he's not (yet)

hes just a rookie and theres like so few flaws already. those overeager or handles being too loose flaws are easy to fix for wemby. hes just a rookie. hes well on his way. just knock on wood dont get hurt. however i do like the fact that wemby and his camp cares to the extreme about his durability, flexibility and injury resistance. all really good sign of things to come. and last thing to boot, 6 1st rounders in 2 years. spurs gonna have themselves, a monster.

I've been able t watch almost all Spurs games this year and one thing I've noticed is his arms are so long theres times when he literally can't dribble the ball lmao like it might be a tight situation or on the break and his length just gets in the way and he'll just drop the ball. I don't know if theres much he can do about this but I do think this is why he loves to go to those "flashy" moves because standard dribbling in rhythm and in traffic is clearly a bit difficult and going behind the back or through the legs sets him up in an easier way. Rebounding is also somewhere I think he can get better. He, for obvious reason, relies a lot on his length to just tip the ball up and go get it when he's the only player that can but I think if he works on his positioning and gets a bit stronger he can easily grab 15+ a game without issue. This may be an issue the Spurs look to other players for in the sense they might find their version of Draymond who's a big body and can just battle in the trenches but if they don't go that route I think Wemby. still has elite potential there with time.

It's not that he can't ...Daam! If you know anything about basket baLL!!! Wembys Height easily allows the ball to be snatchable as he dribbles. Wemby has to create a unpredictable path of dribbling at all times to keep the ball safe ....

Top quality content, dude. I feel like you are up there with right next to bballbreakdown and thinking basketball. I think, for more views, you could incorporate some of the beats and hypemanship of bballbreakdown and some of the "coining" of thinking basketball. for example ben taylor's always coming up with interesting nicknames or phrases. i feel like you have the edge on bballbreakdown in terms of analysis, though. one of the things that's so good about bill simmons is that he's concerned with being funny first and right, second (this is not a true statement, but you get what i mean).

However, he is NOT one of the best rookies of all time, there's been many other players that have been more impactful than him in their rookie years. By the end of this year, he might be the greatest defensive player of all time. If he doesn’t win DPOY, a title he statistically has already put out of reach even if he doesn’t play another minute, then the league should just fold. No player has defensively ever had this much impact. You might be able to argue Russell or maybe Wilt based on the fact there is such limited footage of them and the fact that blocks weren’t recorded until much later so the stats simply don’t exist, but in recorded and taped history of basketball, no one has been so single-handedly dominant on the defensive side of the ball like Wemby.

Bear in mind: Wemby first team sport was football (the real one) and he was… the goalkeeper, the ultimate defender that has to cover a way larger area, has to jump to catch the ball over 2 times more opponents on free kicks and corners, has to dive into cleets to catch balls, has to duel 1vs1. Now you understand his love and dedication for rim protection and defense, and why he’s not afraid of anyone kzbin.info/www/bejne/iIawYWeghZqfodk
