@@fridayafternextfamilycook-8155 According to WIKI: In 2018-2019 Wooten was diagnosed with a rare neurological condition called focal dystonia in his hands and upper body, which had been limiting his ability to play in previous years, but has since abated somewhat.

that's a great masterclass. the only thing i want to point is that you kinda analyzed notes in an awkward way at 2:45 and up. the simplest way to think about this tune is in way of classical harmony. It's just like G | C | Dsus4 D7 | G and when you go to C chord it's 1-5-8-7 of subdominant chord (C) rather then 4-1-4-3-4 as you said. Thanks for you inspiration!

I’ve always wanted to try classical thump is there a book where you can learn
Can you do a lesson on James Jamerson's technique. He really had a unique way of playing the bass.

Great explanation- thanks! Interesting aside: this piece is largely based on a Bach cello suite. Yo Yo Ma has recorded that piece: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z6HVqJiKbpqApZIsi=tSCxRK7HFk2RasCa

Thanks bro! Been doing the thumb thing since the 70’s but never really found a way to make it fit with very much of the stuff I play. I originally started using my thumb like that and a MuTron pedal to play the bass line when my band covered “Black Man” (solo and all) buy Stevie Wonder. That technique was the best imitation of Stevie’s bass line that I could come up with. Lotta cats back in the day were like; “what are you doing bro, nobody plays like that” so I didn’t try to perfect it. Now I wish I’d stuck with it and perfected the technique aka hindsight. Thanks to you and this informative video, I’m going to work on it now. Lifetime learner here! - “Black Man” link kzbin.info/www/bejne/pnbSdmWLhr2Xq6M
