Chimney Sweepers and Sweden has a facinating history. They are the only group allowed to use the large version of the Swedish Coat of Arms, the only other person who uses it is the King of Sweden. Arumba I really, REALLY need you to do a let's play on "Rule the Waves". It's an "as-real-as-it-gets" real-time, mostly text based, naval strategy and it's awesome, but because it's virtually unknown there are very few gameplay footage out there (like two channels?) and even less by people who know what they're doing. I think you can; 1- Get a lot of appreciation from your viewers for bringing an awesome game to their attention. and 2- add a lot to the limited let's plays of the game out there by providing in-depth and knowledgeable commentary. Raising tariffs? DO YOU WANT TO KILL YOUR MIDDLE CLASS!? Because that's how you do it pretty fast. "Who cares about artisans?" You might not, but you should, because they make things like guns, artillery and other valuable goods in the early game that can reeeally ramp up your economy. I'm playing as Denmark with the HPM mod and in the early game I barely had any trouble getting money, which should be a problem for a country of Denmark's size with a sizable army (I ended up with about as many brigades as Sweden and a bigger navy than them)

I remember way back when, in the 90's, there was a little game called Lord of the Realm, to raise an army you not only had to make weapons but took your soldiers directly from the working population (which of course fed your army/city and created goods to make weapons/castles). It's cool to see that mechanic in this game. I think for Lords of the Realm was head of it's time in realistic nation mechanics like that.

I know nothing about this game, although I've read and studied Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad. It seems like a really cool reference to the imperialism which was one of the main themes. :) I read the story as an existential journey I was really focused on the imagery and some of the odd allusions... I don't think I'd be able to write a good essay about Heart of Darkness, I came to the story from a French postmodernist philosopher who mentioned some of the themes in passing. My reading was probably too heavily influenced by stuff like The Lady of Shallot by Tennyson (absurdly) and Apocalypse Now (which was loosely based on Joseph Conrad's story). Anyway... I just had a nerd-fest with the whole idea of a river/journey allegory. Joseph Conrad does use some really cool metaphors and imagery. There are also all these allusions to Greek mythology which are communicated through symbolism... he was a great author, using those allusions to comment on the morality concerning imperialism. I might need to re-read the story.LIke... black and white, beautiful.

can somebody tell me if i'm wrong but... my strategy is: have taxes VERY low, as low as i possibly can to stimulate the class progression and personal riches on the pops, if its possible to have negative tariffs to make artisan and factory building management easier. my political plan is based on the fact i always fail to have liberals enough to reform so i stay very closed with the elite (only landed) and making the elite socialist is easy so i pump social reforms in exchange... by the end i have almost 100% luxury needs fulfilled and makes lots of money out of the rich ( competing with the poor). my army policy for the army is to have a profesional army with a strong combination and tech so i never mobilise, waste more wartime money, kill less peacetime workers. Conclusion: 100% Taxes and tarifs + mobilization = HERESY! Other thing, i always take militancy over conciousness, can kill rebels can't kill normal people '3'

Each game is like: eat Africa and Asia, done, game's up. It's a GAME. I think you're right about POPs being part of Stellaris. In this week's Dev Diary, they were mentioned several times. You said it's way too early to build factories - wouldn't some basic factories (cement or steel for instance) help your industrial score and move you into 8th place quicker?

I tried Sweden, I instantly justified and declared on Denmark who were protected by Prussia who I somehow beat ( baited their army with small army then brought in my big one to intervene) and I took Schleswig- Holstein which stopped Germany from forming somehow

Your army has no artillery... this is quite literally the worst possible army composition. Artillery are the real damage dealers in Vicky 2, your army composition should be based entirely around how many artillery you can support. A good composition for early game is 4 infantry, 4 artillery, 1 hussar (for recon) and 1 engineer (for siege). If your enemy doesn't have many forts, replace the engineer with another artillery, and replace infantry with guards for defensive armies. Later in the game, use half tanks half artillery armies for attacking, and airplanes for defending (seriously, airplanes are fucking OP at defense). Also, if you need the extra numbers from mobilizing, I like to keep around a few extra incomplete armies of all units except infantry, and then fill in the infantry slots with my mobilized pops.

Arumba, I don t know if you ever experienced that, but dismantling your navy isn t a good idea, we don t decide every war we are, and blockades hurt a lot more in Victoria 2, the AI always do blockades wrong, so if you have your navy you can easily break their blockades, if you don t, GG. I had major problemns with GB in my swedish campaign, and major problems with the French in my Two Sicilies campaign, had to win the naval game first before being able to barely survive and win. My play style in Victoria is a bit agressive for the game proposal, but it pay off since I get a lot of industrial areas ultimately necessary to be the number 1.

May I ask if this game has a lot of bugs? Many years ago, I had the displeasure of playing Hearts of Iron 2, which was developed by Paradox. The game was addictive and buggy at the same time. I remember spending hours really addicted to the game, only to run into a bug that makes the game unplayable. I had to spend a lot of time to learn how to open the script to fix the bugs, but it still didn't work well, so in the end I gave up. It was very frustrating. Now I'm looking at this game and I'm tempted... Can someone tell me if it has any major bug?

get prestige get to great power status sphere denmark/form scandinavia colonize johore colonize the sinai, and eritria regions from egypt annex sokoto colonize brunei colonize korea makes several regular clothes factors, furniture, liquor factories, in scandinavia, make svealand make industrial goods like cement, steel, synthetic oil, fuel, machine parts, steamers/engines, glass have states like gotaland and southern finland back up svealand in production maybe attack china (mostly for silk), i have the issue though that chinese pops buy all the everyday needs/goods in my common market and make it harder for my nords to buy their needs :/ own russia later on own UK i could go on

The thing I don't like about Vicky 2 is the fact that except for nations that literally can't invade Sokoto (landlocked nations, nations militarily incapable of getting to and/or beating Sokoto in a war, etc), there is literally no start in the game for which the optimal strategy doesn't involve invading Sokoto ASAP.

ugh I wanna be excited to watch Victoria 2 because I not gonna be interested in seeing EU4 against until Cossoks is out but then your starting move is attack Sakoto, pretty much the most common and therefore most boring move ever, yes I get it, winning the scramble for Africa is a huge deal and annexing Sakoto gives us a big head start on that and its pretty much easy free land, even if it makes no sense that we can get our armies there, but literally every Vicky 2 play through ever seems to do this, why not concentrate on building internal industry to become a great power, or maybe work on a web of alliances and military tech focusing on getting your cores in Finland back from Russia. Anything other than, lets position well for the scramble for Africa and then come out on top because a human is always smarter than a computer when going about it. To this end I also think there were more interesting choices than Sweden, CK2 and EU4 are always in Europe, you could have done something in America instead, making someone like Columbia or Mexico into a great power

Sweden is a great starter nation! Tariffs should always be as low as possible, the upper class should never be taxed so they can invest in factories instead. Middle class is also good to have lower taxes so they can promote to upper class and become investors. Also don t notice if you said, but infamy increase justification time, which increase the chance of you getting caught while justificating a casus belly, and usually you will receive a higher amount of infamy, since you getting caught earlier in the process of justificating. So it s better to wait the infamy come closer to 0 before declaring the next war rather than justify with 10 infamy already, as well it s good to make the wars as quick as you can since infamy fall in slower speed in war times.
