I’m an XXS, and no, sometimes an xs doesn’t fit because of the rapid rise of vanity sizing. Sometimes xs is actually a medium on me lol
@MD-zr1wyАй бұрын
I am 177cm and usually wear S in tops and M in pants. I had to buy a dress in size 32 (EU) which is XXS small. It’s shocking.

They never put the statistic of 67% being plus size I to context. Overweight is plus size. Overweight does not mean super morbidly obese. Less than 10% are morbidly obese. Bmi 60+ is super morbidly obese. These are definable medical categories. They lump themselves in with people so much smaller than them and it's infuriating. They don't realize (willfully ignore) how much of an outlier they are
@theindigolemonАй бұрын
Is overweight realistically actually necessarily plus-sized? I was on the border of normal / overweight at one point and I was still like a US women's medium.
@nutcase2000Ай бұрын
@theindigolemon that's a good point. Here u rly have to be obese to be considered plus sized in clothes. Overweight is normal :P
@Gna_d54Ай бұрын
@@theindigolemon It's going to be very height dependent. I'm very short so if I was borderline obese I'd still be a size 8-10 and fit in mediums in most things. Women half a foot taller may start hitting the earlier plus sizes at the equivalent weight for their height.
@vashposhАй бұрын
yeah overweight starts at like a size 8, because the average woman is 5’5 or so and a size 8 is typically 29-30” around the waist or so 46% of a a womans height. technically that would be a medium despite being overweight.

Just got back from yoga and I’ve lost about 10lbs since buying my yoga pants. They slipped down every time I bent over. So annoying. Pants that don’t fit don’t fit, regardless of what size you are.
@nomadman5288Ай бұрын
They act liike "plus size" at 18 is the same as a 36 or 6X, or however they do sizes. It's like thinking that being 30lbs over ideal weight is the same as being 130 over. They always try to bring up nuance and different experiences when it suits them, but then they completely ignore it when it doesn't. It's just another reason why people laugh at them and think they're idiots.
@theatlassystemАй бұрын
It's honestly why I hate the "fat isn't unhealthy" argument they lean on so much. They intentionally use fat as a vague and nebulous term. No one challenges them to define fat in those scenarios either. It's like sure, you can be fat and healthy - as long as by fat you mean slightly overweight. You can't be morbidly or super morbidly obese and be healthy.

It is very difficult to find professional clothing if you are very small. Yes, you can physically wear baggy, ill-fitting clothes but it will affect how you are perceived on a professional level. If you have a more physical job or you work with food, overly loose clothing can be dangerous, unhygienic, or just very inconvenient. People like Victoria obviously can find clothing that will fit on their body. It may require more planning to get clothes and the options are fewer than for an average sized person, but that is no different from a person who is smaller than average having to order clothes from Europe or China in order to fit them properly. The only difference I could see would be if it was an emergency situation and you were literally naked for some reason; a petite person could throw on any old thing to cover themselves but a larger person wouldn't have that option. That is such a specific and unlikely scenario though, I don't think it warrants making a whole argument about it.

XX% of US women are plus size. OK. They keep saying that. But they are lumping 170 pound women in with 300+ pounders. Honey, we ain't the same!

"I show up for the people who get hurt" Did....those people ask you to? Which ones? Where are they? Or is she assuming such a person exists and they "would" ask her to but they're just not confident enough? I've known people like this. They like the feeling of being the hero and will invent situations (irl or in their minds) where they get to "rescue" someone. But they often rarely ask people directly what they need, and if what they're told contradicts them, they ignore it and carry on with their savior/martyr complex.

Hey! I am a European XS wearer as a pretty petite 5ft1 woman. When there's only an S, I often can't wear it because the cut will be very wrong for my proportions. Arms and legs, and often hips and chest areas as well. Sure, I can alter many clothes, but especially with the hip/chest parts, it is a bit more complicated than just cutting something off. If these fat activists really cared about size equality, there wouldn't be even be an argument like "oh having something too large isn't an issue, having only smaller sizes is way worse". Do they care about sizing or do they not? I have to deal with many clothes not looking ideal on me, and of course plussize people can also always get customs or altered clothing. This just shows that they don't care about the issues they claim, its just vanity points

Many skinny & petite women need to buy clothes from children's section ! I'm a curvy european S, buy M or L chinese size, and XS american size ! I'm not skinny, definitely not XS, I'm normal-sized, exactly at the center of a healthy BMI, slim with feminine curves, no gym or dieting just a healthy lifestyle. What most people were a few decades ago, & most still are around the world, just eating normal food & being moderately active. That shows the scary, deliberate & very profitable (for pharma & junk food mafias) shift towards obesity.

Oversized is overrated imo. I went from 235 to 142, at 5’8”, basically a size XL/pant 18 to M/pant 8. I thought I’d be able to rock an oversized look (because let’s face it, replacing the wardrobe is expensive). You think because you’re slimmer now the big clothes will look good but I can personally attest that this is NOT true 😂 especially any pants that aren’t drawstring sweatpants. It just ends up looking Frumpy with a capital F! It’s fine for laying around the house clothes, but I can’t wear most of the biggest stuff anymore. Plus being fat kinda stretches the clothes in weird ways that no longer work with a smaller size. I used to have an arse and now I don’t at all lol, so the stretched out caboose areas make the arse look extra dumpy. So fashionable, looking like you might be wearing a diaper! 👀😂

Definitely agree 😔 I'm very fortunate to have inherited a sewing machine so I can try and take in some of my pants, but a lot of my tops are strictly sleep or exercise-wear now lol. It's especially annoying since I'm only about halfway to my goal, so there's going to be many more months of ill-fitting attire before I can even think about looking for more clothes (which also means I'm just going to have to work more hours to afford to buy more). I'm very grateful for my improved health and I wouldn't even consider going back for a second, but STILL 😅
@existentialgamer9206Ай бұрын
@ tfw the top slides off your shoulders and not in a sexy way 💀 and is a tent in the torso lol ETA that mid-losing era is very annoying I feel you, it’s not time yet to replace but current clothes look bad

Agreed! I've gotten rid of all of my biggest tops, instead of looking cute and oversized and cozy they look baggy and sloppy! I bought a normal fitted t shirt the other day for the first time in years, and I'm trying to adjust to it after decades of tunics and long tops!

@@once.upon.a.time.omg I hear that, I've bought a couple shirts but I want to hold off until I hit my goal! I am going to do have to do some hand sewing, at which I suck. I've got to put darts in all of my favorite lounge pants!

Clothing not fitting correctly is an issue for every size. It wouldn’t make sense to pay someone to alter every single thing you buy. Even in Canada at least in my city you don’t see many people over 300 lbs.

Almost every solution for a fat person is to be less fat. Everything FAs complain about is something they could adapt to, but they choose not to. Evolution rewards adaptation, not stagnation. Those are the rules of nature; we didn't make them up.

I was an L/XL, now I’m mostly an XXS. And while yes you can put a damn XS on and it will be on your body, things that are meant to be tight like leggings fall off when they’re loose and it is terrible! Even the damn XXS are a little big which is not good :(. At the moment I think the fashion really is oversized, which is an issue because if XXS stuff is already made to be oversized all of a sudden everything is too big, nothing fits properly

It gives deep-rooted issues with sense of self, self-worth and other things. Maybe these people should try developing personality outside their body image, and when they finally distract themselves from their only schtick in this life, they get happier and healthier. I surely feel better about myself now that I am so, so terribly mid in looks and metrics department compared to national average, and I never put a lot of worth or meaning into my looks and size in the first place. Mary Harrington pointed out a wisdom of olden ages her grandma instilled in her in form of question one day: 'Have you tried to be normal?'. Reporting from normal in Eastern Europe here (a bit chubby, busty, well-padded for winter and fitting into M-sized dress): yeah, it's effin great.

I’m a medium generally, but I haaaate wearing oversized sweaters and hoodies; it sometimes makes me feel like a blob. Also, you can alter clothes to be larger. Hand sew in some gores on the sides and armseyes. It just might take 2-3 hours to alter.

This was probably moreso influenced by my toxic mindset, but I always thought that moving abroad (outside the U.S. or Mexico/Canada) would result in me losing weight much easier. It is probably still true, but I always was going to need to do the mental work. It also didn't help because it was a sort of "impossible" (or less probable) goal/obstacle for weight loss.
