Victoria Rowell Interview - Y&R 50th Anniversary Party

Victoria Rowell (ex-Drucilla) of The Young and the Restless chatted with Michael Fairman on the red carpet at the Y&R's 50th anniversary party.
During the conversation, Victoria recalls how the foster care storyline which brought Bryton James to the series as Devon, was her idea, working alongside the late Kristoff St. John (ex-Neil), and how Y&R portrayed and integrated an African-American family into the Genoa City canvas.

Victoria will be in a movie with Diane Keaton and other A listers soon. She’s not sitting around waiting for Sony. She started writing, producing, directing and starring in her own films. I appreciate all the behind the scenes work she did to bring black actors and crew to the show.

I’m a little late on this but I am so so appreciative of what Victoria and Kristof brought to the screen 📺 her time there will never be forgotten and she contributes so much. It’s just a shame that she’s not still there but she’s doing way better now

I am so emotional watching this interview. Victoria is fresh air and a brillant actress. I think things went down when Bill Bell's legacy died with him. If his legacy were much respected she would have stayed on the show. Now she have a great career and I am so proud of it. ❤

One main reason she left was Michelle Stafford treated her with distain and one day spit on Victoria. Victoria demanded an apology and action from the higher ups, which they stood nt trashy Stafford.

I adored Drucilla! Her mother was sooooo awful to her and i felt her pain! And later when the character was written off I waited for years and years for Drucilla to come back from the dead. YEARS!

I still miss her character! She gave Y&R some spunk that was much needed. Y&R has not been the same since she left and of course after Kristoff St. John’s death. Miss both actors and characters.

Although my grandmother and mother were watching the show, I took interest growing up in 90’s because of Drucilla, Neil, Olivia, Nathan and Malcom. The Winters Hastings family….❤❤.. the best memories, although Neil is forever gone Drucilla needs to climb up that cliff even 16 years later..

I think there is too much bad blood between her, CBS and the show's producers. Because of the lawsuits she brought against them and CBS and Sony during a 3 year period from 2015 to 2017. Which was settled back in 2017. I would bet that one of the stipulations of that settlement was probably that she would never return to the show. Because after it was settled, there was no public record of her attempting to get back on the show. Obviously they would have her for the 50th anniversary festivities because of her impact, longevity and popularity when she was on the show. If they were remotely even thinking about bringing her character back, it most likely would have been while Kristoff St. John (RIP) was still alive. Now that he is gone and the character of Neil Winters is deceased on the show. They have made it indirectly clear that bringing her character back wouldn't serve the arcs and storylines they've decided to go with from a creative point of view. Surely that is also motivated by the rocky history between her, the network and the show, even with Les Moonves no longer at the helm at CBS who she didn't particularly care for and had strong objections to because she felt he was ultimately responsible for all of the rejections she received during an 11 year period when she was trying to return to the show or get other jobs with CBS. She even tried to return as a writer, but the show declined to have her. Its a real shame because of the talent she is and how popular she still is.

Victoria Rowell doesn't deserve to be back on Y&R. She caused so much trouble, including sueing the show. She wasn't nearly as important as she thinks. Proof is the show has remained #1 even after she was fired. She claims credit for various storylines, which the writers probably laugh at and shows her giant ego. She made rediculous demands of the show that got her fired. Some people don't forget.
