A one-off, fifty minute comedy sketch show special, written by and starring comedian Victoria Wood. Broadcast by the BBC on Christmas Day 1992.
The show was linked by Duncan Preston and Wood as husband and wife daytime TV presenters 'Martin Cumbernauld' and 'Sally Crossthwaite'. Blatant parodies of the real husband and wife presenting team Richard Madeley and Judy Finnegan.
This was Wood's first sketch show since the phenomenally successful Victoria Wood As Seen On TV ended in 1987, and included the new 'mini-soap' "The Mall", which featured the return of Mrs. Overall and the establishment of her own branch of Acorn Antiques.
Several of Victoria Wood's stand up shows and sketch series "As Seen on TV" are available on DVD release.
Transferred from an original VHS recording of a BBC transmission.

She really was an incredibly generous writer... A lot of comedians keep the best lines for themselves, but she knew who would deliver her lines at their best. What a fantastic writer and woman.

And yet oddly obsessive and controlling once she had. So many of the people who worked with her over the years have said how difficult and demanding she was to work with, particularly the cast of Dinner Ladies. Celia Imre said she actually felt quite bullied by Victoria at times.

@@dbell9644 I agree with you. She actually appeared in almost everything VW did as did Julie and the man who was the inspector of bathrooms. in the Mall sketch. Expecting a good job is not bullying. Bullying is belittling people and she launched many careers.

I miss her so much, Victoria's talents had no bounds. She was exceptionally gifted from a very young age. I watched her right from the beginning in the 70s, I think we were the same age thereabouts. Her script writing was incredible. There was no-one like her and there never will be. Comedian, Actor,Musician that she had written herself.

There will NEVER be another comic as switched on, talented, musically inclined, observational, cutting, compassionate and switched onto the public as the late and sadly great Victoria Wood. I grew up with her on our TV and now in my late 40s I still enjoy her comedy with my mother, close family, new and old friends. It is always a pleasure to introduce Victoria Wood's humour to people who are unfamiliar with her talent. Let's keep her candle burning brightly!

Victoria was way ahead of her time. Her clever subtle humour taking the mickey out of the tv culture of constantly calorie counting and dieting was genius. I remember an interview with her and she recounted how she could be being interviewed about the weather, her comedy, basically anything and the conversation would ALWAYS be interspersed with her dress size or whether she had lost weight.

What a great comedy gem this is, I could (and I have) watch this time & time again, no need to fast forward as I wouldn't want to miss a single word of Victoria Wood's genius writing. And that's what is missing from tv these days, the utter dribble that they show...but that's a rant for another time!! It was such a sad loss when Victoria Wood left this world, what a fantastic multi talented artist she was, so sad. But she has left us this great body of work for us to enjoy. Although she was a big star and a well respected & loved person, she never behaved like a star even kept her cancer and treatment to herself, so much love and respect for this great woman. I hope that this great show does get released on dvd, can't think why it hasn't already. RIP Miss Wood, thankyou so much for the years of laughter and we're still laughing.... God love you x

I've watched a load of Victoria Wood stuff over Christmas, both on BBC and then here on KZbin. The greatest thing about those clips here - not a single mean comment below the videos :) VW brings out the best in people, even on the internet :)
