That's not the full sketch it's cut down there is one more kitchen trip missing and looses a lot of. Such a shame you didn't get to see the whole thing.

There is an entire subculture of Brits who, when ordering at a restaurant, will say “Two soups!” to a young waiter/waitress who has no idea why you are laughing
@jemmajames6719Сағат бұрын
Or you’ve overfilled a bowl or mug at home and it splashes over the top, someone is bound to say ‘two soups!’
@robsnoxell715810 сағат бұрын
I own a coffee shop, and if anybody orders two soups, it usually ends up with us all laughing! This sketch goes on a bit longer, and when they leave, she calls them 'bastards' for not leaving a tip!

You have to do Acorn antiques 😂. Absolutely hilarious sketch from the Victoria Wood show. It takes the pee out of old 70s soaps with wobbly sets etc 😂. Victoria Wood and Julie Walter's were brilliant together. Victoria plays some fantastic characters. Try her aerobics teachers😂
@leohickey495310 сағат бұрын
Of course it was great, but I'm not sure it would go across so well to anyone who hadn't seen the "real life" soap _Crossroads_ , which it was surely inspired by?
@WIlfredWibbles2 сағат бұрын
When Victoria Wood wrote this sketch the Producer of her show was in complete disbelief - she had to almost force it through and tell him that it's one of the funniest things she'd ever written. It's comedy legend status in the UK - you just have to say "Two Soups" and people will immediately start to laugh, or imitate the Julie Walters character (the waitress).

The wonderful Julie Walters, written by Victoria Wood. You should watch the Fitness Sketch. This sketch was cut short. Victoria Wood gave the best lines to everyone else she wasn’t in this sketch.

As well as being an excellent deliverer of humour, she also wrote brilliant comedy. It is a different style to much of today's comedy, a 'softer' style, and often harking back to a slightly bygone age. In her own performances, there was a certain amount of pathos in the characters she created for herself. She certainly didn't hog all of the best lines for herself. 'Acorn Antiques' is a series of sketches that might elude you, because it is a parody of an early evening soap opera here, that became famous for its wooden characters - and cardboard scenery, that wobbled. I'm sure there's some US comparison you can substitute.
