There's so many million-dollar mansion tours on YT that I just don't care about but THIS... this is cool. Would love to see a before/after of the basement if you ever do work on it-- there's enough windows & space down there to make a cozy little cave with some new floors and paint on the walls! Would LOVE to know if the doorframe in the study was possibly a secret passage at some point. Also the crawlspace to nowhere under the kitchen-- I immediately thought "trapdoor." Wonder if there was anything there that was sealed up (and could possibly be reopened?) And the wash days!!! Can't believe you thought that was creepy. SO cool. If I ever repainted that wall I would simply leave a square around that untouched, or even frame it. What a neat piece of history to have literally engraved in your home.

I lived in a house built in the 1800’s in southern MN, and the basement was straight out of the saw movies. There was a crawl space with a dirt floor that was presumably a root cellar, and when you would shine a light in you could see all of the eyes of the spiders living in it.

@@LeejaMiller I'm in West Virginia and we have thrift stores everywhere. The first of the year, I hit up all the Catholic stores because they have boat loads of Christmas decorations for nearly nothing. I went in one a couple years ago and asked the lady up front how much for the whole aisle... She said, ugh.... 20 bucks? 😲🙃 Wasn't me. ☠️ There were loads of vintagggge ornaments. Hand blown and painted, handmaid wooden ones, etc. And in the mix, there was a Christmas tree box, a regular looking one, it said it was prelit so I opened it to try the lights, and boom biotch. Someone had put their vintage aluminum tree in that box. 6' classic aluminum tree with the original rotating light. The pompom one. I legit started crying. 😂 At the time they were worth $1,000 or so. I think they've came down see this past year but gah. I gave it to my momma because she's always talked about wanting one because it was her favorite tree growing up that my papaw put up. :) She puts it up every year and not a soul is allowed to touch it. 🤣😂🤣😂 Not sure why I went on a tangent about Christmas decorations... Sadly Christmas decorations are my all time favorite thing. :D Tl;Dr: I have hoarding tendencies when it comes to Christmas decorations.

I LOVE old houses!!!! You call the creaky/ uneven floors quirks, I call them safety features. 🥰 Plus, they're gorgeous! I love that you're focused on the preservation of it, too! **Bringing it to code is one thing, gutting it for "open concept" or to give it "clean lines", is something completely different. Maybe it's great for some, but it's incredibly sad to see all that workmanship destroyed.** If you know any empaths, psychics, and/or mediums, it wouldn't hurt to cleanse and bless this house so you can both have a fresh start upon moving in. Your house probably already appreciates you considering how you want to take care of it, so you're off to a good start! CONGRATULATIONS!!!!

One tip (Which I am sure you are already doing) but create a pinterest board for each room and then whenever you see things that you like pin them to the boards and after a while the boards will start to take shape of an aesthetic or theme - and then you can build on that! Enjoy! excited to see more as you get in and make it your own Stu xx

Don't know whether you saw the movie - but that staircase gives me Crimson Peak vibes. LOVE the tin ceiling, that room will be stunning with green walls. Congratulations on such a gorgeous house!!

Absolutely loved this! We had a house built in 1914 and it was rough to keep up with the maintenance, but I definitely still love old homes! Can’t wait to see everything you do!

Oh, I love it! Absolutely gorgeous. I love old houses. Mine was built in 1885, what we call a mini St. Louis mansard. I’ve always wanted a space for a baby grand/library. Don’t have the space, though. Love that your house hasn’t been modernized, like paining the woodwork white etc. My basement is also freaking creepy, so spidery. No thanks. I go down there as infrequently as possible. 😂

Lovely. I love how they put the finishing touches on homes then. Love the built in in the foyer, and the wood, wow. I love old homes too. Mine was built in 1915, much smaller and less stately, but it has 10 foot ceilings and wide baseboards, sadly they painted over all the lovely wood over the decades, there are LAYERS of paint on the woodwork. But the hardwood floors are gorgeous and in great shape. I use Murphy's oil soap to clean them and drench them in lemon oil once a year. (Cleaning aisle, near the Murphy's.). For some weird reason there was apparently a fad of plastering in the fireplaces here, every older home I've seen, fireplaces plastered over. Insane. I would have loved to be able to use it last year when we had 12° temps, which is rare for the delta of TN. My house also has lynch locks on the doors, my town was founded in 1873, Alex Haley's family lived in the town so I'm sure you can imagine why people needed lynch locks. Sad. There used to be a wrap around porch but it was renovated into the home to make the bathrooms, laundry room, etc. Can't wait to see how you decorate yours. Hopebyou make more videos showing it off.

Thank you!! Wow I had literally never heard of lynch locks.... shows my ignorance oops!! Also yes one of my fireplaces is cemented in??? Like theres a mantle and then... just cement? It's very weird.

We literally just finished building our new home and I completely agree, there is something magical about an old home too. I'm trying so hard to bring in loved pieces and aspects to our new home to give it that "been loved" vibe! Very intrigued to see your projects and updates! 💜👏

I watched the latest video you posted and said to myself, "I wonder if she has a house tour video." Just looking at the background of that video I just knew you live in a beautiful place. This is one of the most beautiful homes I've ever seen. Best wishes to you.
