Thank you for sharing your story. I was diagnosed with endometriosis 10 years ago by a doctor that completely shrugged it off. Her exams were so painful that I never went back. I had to find another doctor. Two months ago my pain came back even worse. My doctor sent me straight to a surgeon who thought that there was a typo on the ultrasound report because it said I had a giant endometrioma. I had surgery last week to remove it and my uterus, cervix, fallopian tubes and ovary. I'm still in pain and recuperating. If you think a doctor is dismissing your symptoms, not taking you seriously or you are just not comfortable with him or her find another doctor that will. You don't have to live in pain. Especially pain that's debilitating.

I’m finally having surgery for deep infiltrating endometriosis. So deep it’s in my bowels and rectum. I also have a Fallopian tube blocked, 2 chocolate cysts. The pain is pretty much everyday at this point, and there are days I can’t walk. I got my period when I was 10, placed on birth control at age 12, doctors ignored my complaints until last year. I came off birth control and all hell broke loose with my pain. My MRI confirmed I have it, feels good to be validated that my pain is real. I’m 34 now.

Wow, thank you for sharing your story, Emily! I know other women who have had similar experiences finding out they have endometriosis - being brushed off by doctors and taking 10 years to get a diagnosis! It shocks me that so many doctors seem to either think these women are overreacting or simply don't know that endometriosis is a possibility. The more people talk about it, the more aware people will be. So thank you for sharing your experience - I'm sure you're going to help a bunch of women out there! I'm so sorry that it took you so long to get your diagnosis and that you had to live with pain for so long. I hope that you're seeing improvements in your health every day. 💜💜💜

Thank you so much, Julia. It is so sad how long it takes some woman to get a diagnosis...and to feel that their pain is not being validated. I hope that this will change soon because it makes me sad to think someone could be currently going through the same experience I had. It's can be tough!!! Thank you so much for watching and your sweet words. Huge virtual hug

I had same experiences. I remember leaving a doctors appointment just furious because I was told to take 2 Excedrin, even though I mentioned endometriosis and explained how much pain I was experiencing. Finally found specialist resulting in surgery, too. Thank you for making people aware. Best of luck, Sue

It can be soo so tough, Sue. I am so sorry you had to go through those disappointing doctor's appointments and were not taken seriously. I remember feeling so defeated and upset. That is shattering and soo heartbreaking. ♥️ As hard as some days can be, we are stronger than we realize and we can overcome any obstacle that is thrown at us. I'm proud of you!!!! I highly recommend checking out Nancy's Nook Facebook group. I also find an anti-inflammatory/endo friendly diet and exercise is extremely helpful for me, if you want to look into some other options besides pain killers. I also recommend the book:

Oh Emily!!! I’m sooo sorry for you! These doctors that treated you before and dismissed you like a crazy woman should be accountable for something! This is so upsetting and enraging! And I see a lot of that behavior from the doctors here in Germany so I feel personally touched by this video. What make these doctors think that one would go to their offices just to make them waste their time? If we decide to visit a doctor is because we thing something is wrong and we need the help of an expert, not some idiot telling us it’s normal or stress or it’s all in our minds! My heart goes out to you and I applaud your determination and your inner strength to do the research for yourself, look for someone knowledgeable and even wait for 2 years! What a journey! I hope things start to get better for you and you be free of the pain. I send you a big and warm hug! 💗

Hello Emily, hope you're in a better place now. I just watched your eating disorder video. Wanted to say massive thanks for all the advice and help in both videos. I'm also sorry to hear about your struggles. It must have been a difficult journey. I've also been having a terrible time. For over a year, having heavy periods, really painful digestion and inflammation of skin. About 2 weeks ago I thought everything was going to end for me that's how excruciating the pain was. After having cancellations from a clinic I went back to my Dr and said I need to see a professional expert somewhere different. The referral took quite a long time. I finally had my gynaecology referral last week. She was amazing and really understood what was happening. I told her about all the gastro problems. The gastro team told me to stop taking iron tablets as that can make you nauseas and wreak havoc with digestion. I was crying from the pain every time I would take it as my body can't absorb iron well. So, I went back to GP and asked for alternative. They suggested iron infusion. That's the only thing which has helped improve digestion a little. I still struggle but trying to fight everyday. I heard gynaecologist and consultant talk amongst themselves about it potentially being Hidradenitis Supparativa/ Lupus :( My MRI is in 3 months time but only the scan will determine the diagnosis. I don't want to predict what I have. I'm really nervous and trying to live life but it's been torment :( Please pray for me I just want to see the light at the end of the tunnel and live a normal life. Once again thank you Emily! Peace, love and light to you and all your subscribers 💛💛💛💛

JC, thank you so much for sharing your story and for your kind words. Please know that the BIGGEST hug is being sent through my computer screen, over to you! My heart hurts hearing about everything you have and are currently going through. It is such the journey and can be so defeating and scary, at times. The hardest is not knowing the cause. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers daily. I promise there IS a light at the end of tunnel, whatever the diagnosis or outcome is. It is really scary when we do not know or have all the answers. I found journalling to be really helpful, sometimes just writing down things I notice or feel about my body or just about the situation and overall life. I am thinking of you!!!! Hang in there!!!

I feel you should make regular videos about your journey! Often, we women look for consolation in the seemingly "superficial" pretty things. But they're not superficial. They show how we want to create beaity and love. Your videos have always been beautiful and comforting. But your message is getting so much stronger by including the seemingly dark sides of life. The same woman who tries to escape her pain and her not being taken seriously by watching your charm video, might find a first hint in your health video on what is wrong with her health. Your vulnerability is a superpower, dear Emily 💕

Thank you for sharing this. You had to take a long way to get your diagnose. I can imagine it must have been a long journey. It shockes me that there is such a big and long waiting list in your area. I'm so sorry it took that long to get a proper diagnosis. And it's so true that we have to be our own advocate and fight for what we need and believe. It's sad that we have to do that this day and age. Watch for fibroids and cysts because those like to grow as well. My sister has a lot of experience with all of that along with endometriosis everywhere in that area. I also have experience now with a large cyst (although a different kind) in my ovary which had to be removed quickly recently due to risks it posed to my health like rupture and torsion. Isn't being a woman fun.... Good luck going forward! I hope for an as smooth as possible road ahead for you.

Thank you so much for telling your story. Since the age of 16 I was prescribed contraceptive because I went to the doctors complaining of intense period pain, and it took years and me forcing doctor's to listen for them to even consider exploring whether it was endo. I had bruises all over my legs from anaemia during periods, doctors STILL didn't make the link and just told me to drink more orange juice lol....it drove me crazy thinking maybe I was just overexaggerating, but we're not, and if you think something wrong then always always trust your instinct!

I was very lucky 34 years ago in finding a ob/gyn who diagnosed my endo and was shocked 3 years later when I fell pregnant with my son. I still get the pain but no where near as bad as I had in my teens before having my kids. I found it was close family members that didn't take my pain seriously, my doctor and ob/gyn actually believed me. My ob/gun put me on a strong medication, hormone I think but can't remember, helped me a lot and luckily I only have more minor flare ups now.

I feel so guilty for my diagnosis. Endo wasn’t even on my radar-despite my bf being diagnosed with it and subsequently having a full hysterectomy. Fast forward to two years after that-having debilitating pain is normal, isn’t it? To the point where you can’t even sit or stand comfortably- and my wonderful general practitioner who during my annual exam was worried about my extreme “sensitivity” to my pelvic exam and who immediately referred me to an OBGYN. Two months after that I was having my own hysterectomy, and after found out that my endo was “quite extensive” and “everywhere”. My diagnosis was so quick, and the surgery was life changing. It grieves me to know that others have to fight so hard just be be heard. I am 100% an anomaly, and I 100% should not be.

I believe God guided me here , because the fact that you said to not shrug it off and I have been shrugging it off for too long thinking that my periods are normal... but they are not! I honestly want to rip out my cervix at times and thats wht made me start making moves and doing research. I am currently waiting for an appointment with my Gyn, to see whats going on in there. Again Thank you for sharing🤍

Hi, I have endometriosis and also need surgery. Can you share the name of the doctor that treated you? I'm currently looking into doctors in Canada, but it's difficult to research the "quality" of each doctor. I'm also looking at some doctors abroad. Would really appreciate it! Take care!

I recommend checking out Nancy's Nook. They provide lists of recommend surgeons (based on recommendations and experiences of fellow patients) in different countries, including Canada! You can find it here: facebook.com/groups/418136991574617/

My surgery is on Oct. 5, I hope it's not that but I don't know what else it can be. I just don't want to deal with a life long condition. I also don't want my daughter to deal with it.

Thank you for sharing your story. I’m currently going through a episode :( Anyway, I was told that they wouldn’t do the surgery to see if I had endometriosis unless I agreed to take birth control after otherwise it would be pointless surgery. 😩

Presence in you stomach. Yes. I believe doctors tell us pain is normal cause they don't even have clue of what normal menstrual pain feels like. We know when something is abnormal. The world we live in and the foods we eat makes us sick.

I really a appreciate your video. Thank you very much!. I have been in pain for so many years and I am sick and tired of doctors. I still haven’t got a proper diagnosis and I don’t know what to do. It is very annoying because makes me feel so alone. I wish it was more information about the subject. I am hundred percent sure I have got endometriosis, and it is just so hard to get a diagnosis specially now during the pandemic since it is very difficult to get a referral and I haven’t got the money to go to a private doctor at the moment. Wish you the best ✨

I just got a laparoscopy and they removed a chocolate cyst :( but one day after the surgery I’m peeing blood (like the first day or period) and there’s some blood on my pad.. I’m not sure if this is normal, an early period or something wrong internally.. does anyone know or have gone through this? :,(

My ultrasound found cyst in my ovary which was so painful during period and my gynaecologist asked for laparoscopy. During surgery they found endometriosis in everywhere in my body. I had surgery on 6th April of 2021 and was absolutely okay first period after surgery but second I had mild pain around my abdomen. I feel like it's back. Do you taking any medication or anything to prevent to come back endometriosis?
