Technique - Hemstitch - Fabric Preparation

In this video, you work with a pair of fabric threads at a time. When you remove fabric threads:
1. cut on left of pattern first, remove the short piece.
2. unweave the longer piece just to the right hand side of pattern
3. pin fabric thread out of the way (parking)
4. cut on right of pattern, and remove short piece
5. unpin fabric thread, thread a 22 tapestry needle on that fabric thread and weave into the right margin of fabric.
6. unweave the longer piece left by the second cut
7. thread a 22 tapestry needle on that fabric thread, and weave into left margin of fabric.
8. cut ends even with edge of fabric.

I pull threads from all sizes of fabric. I figured out while working on batiste that an old (or new) sewing machine needle was perfect. On loosee weave, pulling isn't a problem but in finer, more tightly woven fabrics, it can be a pain. Give it a try, you'll be surprised and the needle will develop a special place on your pin cushion.

@@VictoriaSamplerChannel It's great if you have a touch of "rheumatiz" in your fingers, 🤔like old people get, or so I heard, maybe read about it somewhere.🤣😉 The fatter end is easier to hold on to. I do love that sharp point for handkerchief linen, batiste or my bad habit of coming across a piece of even weave ANYTHING and thinking "Hmmm, I wonder if........"

What count and what type of fabric do we need

Hi Lynn. This is the first time I've set a "Premier"... This video will come out on January 18th.. how did you see this? Are there 'ads' for this one? Anyway, it's meant for a design I'll be sharing in my FB Chat Group. ;) You can do this with any count or type of evenweave, but this one is linen.
