Regular bears are in hibernation right now, sanctuary bears/bears in captivity aren’t usually doing that so I assumed it was a sanctuary they were going to.

Yes, the shelter actually looks much better than I expected it to be! I mean many things In developing countries aren’t even close to being that neat, organized, and well-made. And when it comes to social work, you usually try not to have any expectations😅 It’s already good enough that they just exist here.

Awww.... love the animals! On our cattle ranch we have about 1200 or more head of cows/calves/bulls combined, but.... unlike on our neighbor's ranches, we have lots and lots of tame cows who come up to you begging for treats. They will lick you and slobber all over you waiting for a protein cube that we use to suppliment their hay in the winter time. Our Airbnb guest can go with us to a pasture if they want to... and hand feed cows, which is a real treat to them, as most grow up in cities and haven't experienced large animals up close. You and your family are welcome here anytime! We had guests last year from Belgium and France. Just look up Nebraska sandhills Airbnb spots and you will find us! A farmer who keeps the cows on his corn stalks from November until the end of February, commented to my husband that he doesn't understand how 80% of our herd are tame! (This is a big exaggeration of course, but we do have a hundred or more who are!) The babies won't come up to you unless they are bottle fed, but as soon as they are weaned away from their tame mamas', those calves born to the tame cows will begin to come up and beg for treats! Mama teaches baby! So it is generational.

Thanks for the interesting visit to the animal rescue center. It was generous of your family to contribute the “ treats” to the various animals. And also, thanks for providing the link to the map ( showing the location of the rescue center. Be careful feeding animals through the fence!! They all have sharp teeth and claws … and can move very quickly.

For those who would immediately say how thats horrible living in a cage, don't you know bears are closer and closer to human civilization? They are starving so they eat in trash. They are so close to village that they are more likely to be shot because they are hungry and feed themselves more easily by going to trash bins. So unfortunately living in cages is more safe in a way, even if they are not happy, maybe it is better than being alone after their mothers died shot. In one country i don't remember wich one, a bear came to a bakery and ate all the sugar cakes! Nobody was hurt, she was very hungry and craving sugar obviously 😂 Thank you Vikan for these wonderful snow landscapes, i can feel the snow, where i live there is no snow anymore.

I am surprised to see the bears active during the winter. I've always heard that bears hibernate through the winter and become active in the spring. I'm glad they are in a protective place where they are cared for properly. Thank you for sharing this story.

I didn't know anything about Europe before watching you and a few other Russians that left. I love it. Europe takes such care of animals. Turkey has cats all over and they are well cared for.
