This was my first SAK. I picked it because it seemed like the perfect knife. A pry tool, a scraper/pick tool, a utility blade and a slicing blade that will actually be sharp when you need it because the other options save you from abusing your edge. I have 5 SAK’s now and several other pocket knives but this one gets the most use. I found another this summer which was after this was discontinued. I grabbed it. Backup in case something happens to this one. People say the Compact is the greatest EDC, but I carry this way more. Slimmer and robust. The plastic SAK’s kinda feel like toys compared to the Alox. This is in the conversation imo for greatest EDC SAK.

Imo this is the king of Saks. I like having two blades on a slip pocket knife, one for dirtier/rougher work and the other for more formal things. If you think of it in terms of edc it's great also, it's like all the tools save the blade from the everyday abuse that often send pocket knives to the junk drawer. Prying, scraping, popping beer caps, drilling holes in various materials, and shamefully using the knife blade as a screw driver. If you snap the tip off on a sak somethings wrong with you because there are tools in the same handle better suited to whatever snapped that tip lol

Great video! I regularly carry an Alox Electrician. Victorinox used to make several knives that could be had with or without the keyring. The Pioneer had a no keyring version. The Standard was a no KR Spartan. An 84mm cellidore Electrician was available no KR. Also, some of the 58mm 74mm came both ways

The Pioneer without a keyring was the Soldier knife 1960-2008 as issued to Swiss Army recruits. The newer Soldier is similar to the One Handed Trekker.

@@simonh6371 There was, at least, an BSA NKR sold as a Pioneer, and mentionsof NKR Pioneers being available in online sites. Also, I wonder if the tool dimensions were identical on the Pioneer and Soldoer. Older Soldiers could also have bales or hollow rivets.

@@bowtiejoe2413 I think they were the same dimensions but as you say older ones had hollow rivets and they didn't have a keychain attachment which some prefer (some grind them off 93mm alox models for comfort holding) and some had a bale. You know there is an ''sakwiki'' online with all the details if you're really interested and have time to look.

The difference in price is because the higher demand of the Pioneer which is produced in much higher volume than the Electrician, thus the lower price.

Maziya do you think those models are very hard to open the tools out I've noticed it's not as easy as the red handle Swiss army knifes but there very strong models

Don't worry lol, I still love SAKs, haven't been feeling up to making videos recently, just been busy in my workshop. I won't be able to buy any probably for a long while as I don't have the funds, thankfully I still have a good hand full that I haven't filmed yet.

@@scotsman7626 😃I've just received a box of old poickit knifes and there's quite a few older Swiss army knifes and models that's know longer available so I'm on KZbin trying to figure out some of the other poickit knifes that's in there i might have to start making some video's but I'm not the best when on camera ☹️ I'll be looking forward to seeing more videos from you thanks buddy 👍🏻

@@name5949 Are you on Instagram mate? if so, send me some photos of the knives and I'll try to help, also use SAK wiki, it's an excellent website for finding out what model a SAK is. Yes definitely start uploading man, would be interesting to see what you come up with, I'll give you a shout out when you get some videos up, don't worry to much about filming, just do what feels comfortable. I literally just have my phone sitting in a drill vice in my kitchen with me taking nonsense and I've somehow got over 1000 subscriptions 🤣. I'll try to get some videos out soon.

@@scotsman7626 hello buddy no unfortunately I'm not on Instagram the sak guy has helped me out with one i didn't know and it's called the victorinox master craftsman with a little space rocket 🚀 on the side of the scale also i didn't realize you could get a victorinox climber in 84mm well i picked up a box of used Swiss army knifes many years ago so I started going through them and at the bottom of my tool box under lot's of tools i got the tape out and can you believe it it's 84mm now i didn't realize you could even get a victorinox climber in 84mm thanks to KZbin i saw a video with a 84mm climber only for that i would have never known so I've taken it out and oiled it up and cleaned it but i like the driver on the back over the corkscrew for me it's better i also find a few other models that's hard to come by i love your camera 📷 stand 😅 maybe i will start making videos 😀👍

@@name5949 I could be wrong but I think the master craftsmen is worth a good bit of money, and I believe the machine victorinox was useing to make 84mm scissors broke down, and they didn't want to pay to fix it, there by discounting the 84mm climber, so that might also be worth something to a collector, again I could be wrong.

That older knife with the cellidor scales is a Tourist not a Recruit, the Recruit doesn’t have any back tools. Being from across the pond politics is a sore subject, i was disappointed you felt the need to involve politics in an swiss army knife video. I really like swiss army knives and watch videos about them to escape all the political crap going on over here.

Well like I said I was just messing, sometimes people bring it up in the comments, I think they sometimes just want a dig, I normally don't bring that kind of politics into it, tho I often will take about political matters relivent to knives, terrorism, self defence etc.
