My first SAK given to me by my uncle when I was a lad in the early 90s. I like your ‘crazy’ idea about replacing the main blade with scissors. I’ve thought that a few times about a few models(not necessarily always scissors). For urban edc I actually need a substantially sized blade less than almost every other tool you see on SAKs.

I carry the Alox Farmer as one of my EDC knives. Great knife. I've only got 9 SAK's...my Ranger Grip 78 is main folder for the woods but the farmer goes too. Jury still out on the Fieldmaster but so far....very good.

I like the look of this knife, I would love to try it for the the secondary knife, but I don't understand the name. The philips screwdriver is for me the most used tool when doing electrician work, and they removed that which is baffling to me.
@MoorlanderEDC2 ай бұрын
I didn't realise it has the Philips head before. It does seem strange they removed it. It's rare I use the flat head other than to scrape stuff or pry stuff open
@OttosTheName2 ай бұрын
@@MoorlanderEDC The smaller flathead on the Pioneer's can opener is a pretty good philips head driver. Not great for a lot of torque, but the head fits in the most common philips screws quite well. It's perfectly adequate for power sockets for instance. (As long as the screws aren't sunken in too deep.) I could never give up on the can opener / screwdriver for that reason.

Great video, cheers. The only SAK I ever wanted was an Alox with the scissors and the saw, and Victorinox go and release the Farmer X. Haven’t picked one up yet, but it will be my next SAK for sure. 😄

Hello mate, I’ve watched all your Victorinox Alox videos. Great reviews. 😊 I have a number of their mini knives, a Swiss Champ which I bought back in 1988 and recently a Swiss Tool. My Phillips screwdriver was damaged and saw bent on the Swiss Champ so I sent it to the UK distributor who sent it back to Switzerland. For £10 they replaced the screwdriver and saw, oiled it, sharpened the blades and then replaced the original red scales which were battered, to lovely new black scales. Fantastic customer service. I really wanted an Alox and as I have multi tools with all the tools, I decided to buy an Alox Swiss Army 2. This is now discontinued, but Amazon had a few left. Looking forward to receiving it tomorrow. Keep up the great reviews.😀👍

Wow, that's a really great after sale service. I'd always been curious about stuff like that. I'd love to visit the Vic shop in London to make my own knife. Maybe an idea for some future content. I'd love to hear your thoughts on the Swiss Army 2. I don't surpose you have a link to that do you?
Hello mate, Just added the link to the knife which can be bought from Amazon. I also added a link to a KZbin review which made me decide on the Swiss Army 2 opposed to the Swiss Army 1. By the way, the 2 is discontinued so grab one while you can. I never knew that there was a flag ship Victorinox store in London, I would love to see you review that store and buy a custom knife from them. I’ll let you know what I think of the Swiss Army 2 when I get it later today. Keep up the great work.😀

Moorlander EDC I like the look, feel, and durability of the Alox. But I only have the Pioneer so far. I almost got the Electrician instead, but I figured that I should start out with the classic. The other Victorinox tools that I have are the Classic SD and the One Hand Sentinel.

I use the Pioneer as a “date with the wife” knife (quite rare this year) and the Sentinel was become my “walk around the neighborhood” knife.

I find the lanyard uncomfortable while using the knife. I grind them off on saks that have them.

Hi Jake. I've seen a few people that take them off straight away too. It's a shame they don't do a version without them. If they only sold them on the Victorinox site, it would be a great way for them to drive more people there... They'd just have to concede it isn't a tool and drop the tool count 🤣

Ha ha ha... I think our wives round very similar. My wife thinks the same about me. The humble SAK should be a stable for everyone. Functions, quality and value for money, they're hard to beat. I was thinking about you last night Ron and one of my favourite knives... Have to tried a Svord Peasant? Either the Mini or regular version. From our chats recently, I think you'd like a knife like that

@@MoorlanderEDC Looked knife up on KZbin, looks like a sturdy work knife. Like a Mora built for hard use and if lost or broken no big deal. When I deer hunt I carry two Buck knives, the 110 folder and a fixed blade. A small saw to dress the deer when he is down.
@tikofthetoka56503 жыл бұрын
I just won a Champion type C on eBay. $36 shipped. I picked up the Huntsman $18 shipped and a Spartan for $12 shipped. The Huntsman is a great knife with wood saw and scissors. That combo is very nice. The next step up is the Ranger to get the metal saw. But the price jump on the eBay market it's almost doubled to get it. I can only assume that the Ranger would be my favorite knife. However the Champion type C has a metal saw, but it's a less aggressive version of the file than the new version.
@MoorlanderEDC3 жыл бұрын
Hi TotT, sorry, I think I liked your comments and didn't reply. I need to spend some more time with the cherry scale Vic tools. I've always tried to stick the Alox version mainly as they try to limit the amount of tools/layers. I think the X models have the most with 3 layers. I see the advantage of knives like the Ranger and Champions, however feel they have a larger foot print in the pocket... but, I do like to push myself out of comfort zone. I'll pickl on up and make some future content on one. Have a cracking weekend
@tikofthetoka56503 жыл бұрын
@@MoorlanderEDC I keep my wallet in my front pocket. I have learned that it makes long drives more comfortable and less likely to get stolen. The 4 layer knife and the regular knife I use with the belt clip are not even noticable. I have an idea to make an external saw blade work with the victorinox.
@doejon94243 жыл бұрын
This needs the keyring, like the Pioneer & Farmer in my opinion.. for a small lanyard pocket clip. Fumbling in the very bottom of a pocket for these is unnecessary. The only reason I pass on this model. Great video!

I'm sure you'll agree the English language has changed in many of the regions around the world. As a New Zealander to say 'six' and they'll say 'sex'. When Scots say 'girl' it sounds more like ' girdle'... Oh not even going to pass comment on how they say 'basil' and 'oregano' in the US. Its a very special language... And I appreciate we're not all perfect. I hope you're well Big Al, and having a cracking week 👍
