Thank you for the great review; I'm sold! You proved it's not only useful for the kitchen but it can be a survival knife as well. It's a pocket knife, steak, paring knife, and can cut through rope or leather like butter; very useful.

1. Great to hear from you again! 2. I’d never contemplated the fixed blade version let alone the folding, so thanks for bringing their effectiveness to my attention. 3. Stay safe during these crazy times!

I, as many in the comment section, also have the non folding version and love it!! It makes for a great steak knife, and unlike traditional ones that are plain edged, it doesn't get dull fast because of the serrations. I'll most definitely pick a few of the folding ones. Thanks for the review!!
@Daniel-dj7fh Жыл бұрын
I'd say it's more dependant on what you cut if the edge lasts or not. One defecit of the serration is it's not so easy to sharpen to my knowledge, compared to the standard grind.

The Leatherman pouch was from my scraps drawer and served no purpose other than being a material to make test cuts on. Same with the safety belt. As pouches go it was worthless to me because it had no closure.

I love those Victorinox paring and serrated utility knives. I have used one of the serrated for over a year cutting ice to fit in my water bottle and it's still very sharp. And despite not always washing and drying them right away, not one has ever gotten a rust spot. They're of excellent quality for $4!!!
@dmg44154 жыл бұрын
Ainsley Harriott A British TV chef used these tyes of knife as much as possible. These small kitchen knives tends to get abused in the kitchendrawer a lot, so a folding variant is very good to have, shields the blade. There is a need for more kitchen knives to be folders. And when You go on holiday, just put them in a box, or else You have to have knife roll or blade guards on them, and where did I put them the last time I used them? Sorry Mr Zillich I have reprimand You, too short videos! Thanks for being back, and putting out interesting videos!

I also have one of these (in orange too) and the only niggles I have (though one is unavoidable) is the as you mentioned 'wrong' side lock release and the handle length compared to the original version

I guess the release button isn't on the "wrong" side if you're left handed. I wonder if the designer was a south paw?
@ddi3852 Жыл бұрын
Victorinox did it on purpose, so this knife is not classed as "one handed opening" at least for most people. This is to comply with some European countries knife laws, prohibiting one hand opening knives. Great news for lefties

I just checked the specs... these suckers are ridiculously lightweight. Do the liners extend along the entire handle? I already ordered one, but just curious. This looks like a great all-around food and utility knife... and given the light weight, potential edc option as well.
@MeZillch4 жыл бұрын
Hard to see inside but as best as I can tell your suspicion is correct, the liner lock is connected to the plastic frame half way up from the bottom, i.e. the bottom half of the handle is entirely plastic (polypropylene), no metal. . . a magnet I just ran along the handle confirms it.
@FreedomFox14 жыл бұрын
@@MeZillch Thanks, that makes sense... I mean, the blade is 4+ inches and barely weighs more than a dragonfly! But that's also what makes it so attractive for edc. I'll be interested to see if I can actually run it through the dishwasher and not get any corrosion. This obviously isn't for hard use of handing-down to grandchildren, but it could be a home-run for everyday practicality.

Just when i thought my life COULD NOT get any better, the folding " Tomato Knife". Yes, well, maybe! Also, these do resharpen with a "dimond hone" applied to the non satated side, holding the blade at a vevy shalow angle to the hone.Will take some expirimentation to get just right but will resharpen a dulled sarated blade.

The knife is intended to be unlocked with the index finger or your right hand With blade facing away from you and no digits out in traffic therefore belived to be a safer closing. I could be wrong, I was three times back in 75.

I wanted this video to be just a review but I think there is just enough plastic to drill a lanyard hole, useful for attaching a wrist strap so if you are working in an adverse environment where dropping the knife would loose it down the tree, cliff, off the side of the boat, etc., you'd have a safety so you don't lose it.
