Victorinox Ranger Grip 71 GARDENER [0.9713.C] : Scissors Test [MT VOD]

The Gardener cannot compete with a secateurs or with the shears of the HANWEI Professional Multi-tool by PAUL CHEN 1008-GT in efficiency, but it will suffice for flowers and small stems. The scissors are correct, comfortable to use, even if their lengths prevent cuts at the end of the scissors. The faults of this model are in its equipment which does not include the screwdriver/bottle opener, the can opener and the awl.

I sent my RG71 Gardner back to Victorinox for warranty work on the corkscrew (I did a video review on how screwed up their customer service and warranty work really is). When they returned it to me, the corkscrew was fixed, but they totally messed up the scissors. Before sending it back, the scissors worked great for basic trim work in my vegetable garden. Afterwards, it could not cut anything. It's not a sharpness issue. It seems that they intentionally put a slight outward bend in the scissor blades so they would no longer make contact with each other.

I saw the ranger grip 178 has a hidden hex bit driver under the back scales (just need to remove and cut hole in the scale). Does this ranger grip 71 have that hidden feature as well?

@@analogmatrix1442 I did the test on the Ranger Grip 58 Hunter and the Ranger Grip 71 Gardener : there is a 1/4" hole but the long tips don't lock. I will show you this on a video today.

Surge vs this, which have better scissors? And i always have this doubt about victorinox steel, i heard it is soft steel so, knife will get dull easily, is it true? Is the knife better than 440c? @@WillEDC currently, nextool flagship mini is my new favorite tool because of small size and large scissors But It's not everything about size when it comes to scissors. Some cut better near pivot, some cut better near tip, some can easily cut small threads, some can't, etc. I think it is more like size*sharpness, both variables are necessary. Based on what i saw online, surge and victorinox have really sharp scissors Hanwai Paul Chan multi Tasker is boss of everything (even better than surge and victorinox) Nextool flagship mini is unique model with good scissors but some reviews on shopping sites said the locking mechanism for scissors failed in first 2 weeks (it might be rare case or stupid people but can't ignore the fact)

The Gardener's scissors seem better to me than the Surge's (more comfortable / bigger lever arm). Victorinox uses X55CrMo14 (1.4110) steel treated for 56 HCR for all its blades, it is a balanced choice (corrosion, hardness, edge resistance, sharpness, raw material price, machining). For the comparison of different types of steel, I recommend this reading: www.bladehq.com/cat--Best-Knife-Steel-Guide--3368 "what you think about lack of proper locking mechanism on SAKs?" = ??? I do not see how all the tools of a Swiss Champ for example could be lockable without considerably increasing its thickness. However, on some SAK models the knife blade is lockable as is the screwdriver/bottle opener. All tools can be locked on the Swisstool. Thanks for your questions! :)
