That can opener is extremely efficient if you use it the proper way. You should only drive as far as the edge goes, and not bury the tip of the tool in the can. Also, I wouldn’t use the awl to strike a ferro rod to avoid damaging its edge. I’d rather use the back of the saw, which does a fantastic job.

The forward opening can opener has never been a favorite of mine. I prefer the P-38

I had to break up my comment because a 2 minute advertisement popped up while I was typing. 🤠 That's a nice knife/ multitool. I have the civilian version of the US Army Victorinox. It doesn't have those great pliers though.

@@WilliamsKnifeLife Use Add Blocker...I also liike the US Army one with the one handed opening blade i don't have one but they look like a handy EDC knife, i have smaller Swiss Army knives with the Saw blade they are handy little knives i plan on carrying one again soon just for the handy tools.

@@JollyPeanut I do have an Ad Blocker, but I wasn't using it at the time. They always get me with a long advertisement when I'm typing a response. I mute commercials on TV. I hate repetition. It's like brainwashing.

@@WilliamsKnifeLife your right It is brainwashing...I watch most of KZbin stuff on TV too hate the adds i am waiting for KZbin ‘Premium Lite’ subscription offers ad-free viewing for $6-99 per month, Its being piloted in Europe right now as soon as its available here i will be on it for sure it will be worth it not having hours of adds per month rammed into my brain.

1:23 Any reason you did not use the back of the saw to strike sparks like most people do?

Don't quote me but that might be the model that was the Wenger? Of course mr Leatherman made the Leatherman because he was using a Victorinox around his apartment but didn't like how it didn't have pliers. Well now this one does. Nice video.

Interesting ref Wenger. There are so many Wenger & Victorinox knife models it is an interesting mine field for the knife collector for sure...The pliars on this Ranger Grip 74 are precision made & they work greeat but it is a heavyish knife to carry worth it if you use pliars a lot. Do you have many Swiss Army Knives..

@@JollyPeanut When I was a kid, had a chinese knock-off. I want to purchase all of them of course, but I am thinking a Camper, a Huntsman, and possibly something like that one but probably without the pliers, like the ones that are the folders. I don't want an anchor in my pocket. Just the basics. Cork screw, knife, saw, screw drivers, etc. Don't get me wrong, I have plenty of the single blade folders, but I often wonder what's the use? Having the other tools of the SAK makes sense, so it's high time I get one, or two or three. lol And even though it sounds like I was getting down on the single blade folders, I've been eyeing the buck knives, especially since I've learned you can purchase the attachable thumb studs to make THEM FOLDERS, as well.

I am switching out one of my carry knives to a SAK the extra tools are great to have in your pocket. I like the look of the US Army one for single handed main blade & the saw & the other tools but i think i will try a smaller lighter knife with similar tools. I have the Camper & Farmer so i will alternate between those. One day I would also like to get one with the Magnifing glass with real glass not plastic, either Victorinox or Wenger, Let me know which one you end up with.
