Nick writers hate ship episodes/plots. They basically outright said in the ICarly VidCon Episode(like season 5 or 6) that it doesn't matter if/who the characters are dating and you're a loser if you care about it. I would ask why they would even start with those character dynamics if they didn't want to do them, but I'm sure it's just for one off episodes to get high ratings by baiting it.

As professional writers, they need to get over it. They're writing a tv show. If romance becomes a part of the story, they need to invest in it. Not bait, then whine about it later.

Funny you said the lyrics for Jade's song are bad because Elizabeth Gillies (her actress) was a writer for You Don't Know Me.

Even as a teenager I found season 3 very weird but still watched it for the songs.

Season 1 cat was the best. Season 3 cat just fed completely into Dans fantasy. Season 3 writing definitely got lazy. So much could've been done with the characters especially for a final year thing. Them trying to get into their dream job etc.
