i think the problem with tori was that she never had any challenging vocals, whereas the other girls did. this could’ve been bc dan was scared to show that she couldn’t hit the hard notes, or maybe she could and he just didn’t want to include them for whatever reason. i just think the show didn’t showcase enough of her voice, and the characters were made to act like her voice was 10/10, when we were only hearing 6/10

Y'all often confuse alto with contralto. Alto is a choral role and cannot be used to classify mainstream or opera singers. And Liz is a mezzo-soprano. Liz would be an Alto were she to sing in choir though.

Fun fact: The reason that other actors like Arianna and Liz didn’t get a lot of singing moments is because they knew that they were better singers than Victoria (because both of their carriers involved musical theatre at this time) and they didn’t want them to one-up who was supposed to be the main character.

My ranking (don't come at me) 1. Liz- she has such a powerful voice, it's so unique that I just can't explain it. She's underrated. 2. Ari- she is truely mind blowing she hits notes that I never heard anyone hit. 3. Leon- he is just wonderful, he has a beautiful voice and I just wish that he would've got to do a song without Victoria by his side. 4. Victoria- she is really good I just thought she was overrated and she kinda made it feel like it was her first n then the rest of em. Yeah she wasn't an executive or had any control over the songs but even in interviews it seemed like everyone were complimenting everyone n she never did anyone. 5. Matt- when he started singing I think you're swell I was shocked it's still my brother's favorite song from the show. 6. Avan- from the 5 seconds we heard him sing he was great but I just wish he would've sang more. 7. Dani- she is a good singer she can sing it's just in the show that Trina can't sing so it's kind of unfair. (This was my opinion about the actors' voices not my ranking of the characters it's not even close)

I honestly like Tori's voice in Freak the Freak out but the reason why no one really likes her is because it's too basic. They should've showed her hitting high notes like cat or some difficult ones to show that she is talented. She had so much potential with her voice but the show was probably too scared to take any risks.

The problem I have noticed is that they always gave Victoria too popstar songs and got her in a range that's clearly not her best. In "Tell Me That You Love Me" we can see a huge difference in the quality of her voice because of the genre. About her range, you can tell she has really solid lows and an amazing head voice, but none of those were ever exploited by Nickelodeon.

I actually agree with this list whole-heartedly, I mean I love Jade's vocals and her solos are the best in the show but I just can't deny the versatility of Cat's vocals. Ariana is quite literally one of the best vocalists of our time whether you like her or not, the smoothness of her runs and the effortlessness of her high notes is truly amazing. I do prefer Liz's voice to Ariana's because I like her sound better but in terms of vocals, I think this list has it spot on. Also Andre's vocals are pretty under-appreciated, I wish he had more solos or more chance for him to sing a duet with someone other than Tori

Mine would probably go differently. 1. Liz - her low register is impeccable, love her growls and her high notes are always so flawless and on pitch. 2. Ariana - her voice always gives me chills, is very sultry and smooth, and yet still so very powerful, love her runs (which is something Liz can't do, unfortunately) 3. Victoria - I really love her voice, many people have been very mean to her for years but what they all can't deny is that she is talented, very much so, she was just the lead cause Dan promised to give her a show after Zoey 101 ended, her voice is very strong and I was always pretty impressed by it. 4. Matt - whenever I heard him sing I was always very excited to hear his voice because it's really good (stream his version of thank u, next) 5. Leon - I like his voice but I think it's pretty ordinary for a guy, he can't reach the highest of notes and I don't think I've heard his lower ones either so that's that on that. 6. Daniella and Avan - they're gonna have to share this spot here cause I haven't heard much of their voices overall during or after the show.

So, as a music major, I can say that even tho Andre has a beautiful voice and a lot of control, Tori and Jade have shown more range and techniques than him, so my ranking (based on technique and range) would be: 1. Liz, Ariana, and Leon were all in Broadway before being in Victorious, and they have the most AMAZING VOICES! If Liz got into singing, she would have been so HUGE! I can totally imagine her making these edgy songs. Plus, Leon, Ari, and Liz's characters CARRIED THIS SHOW. They are literally the only reason I really liked the show. That is what a lot of people’s issue with Tori, and the show runners, is. She is the star of the show and is made to look like she is the best, even though they have better singers in their midsts. We all know she is a good singer, don’t get me wrong! But episodes like Tori Goes Platinum, are the reason people have issues with Tori and the show makers. They chose Tori over Andre, Jade, AND Cat who were all noticeably better than Tori. I think we all just found it really annoying how they kept trying to convince us that Tori is the best, even though we all knew better, and everyone just got fed up.

Just because you felt like the others were better in the platinum awards doesn’t mean that’s general consensus, and like I said, they were looking for a mix of someone talented and easy to manipulate and they succeeded. This show was made way before they got Broadway talent so even if they did somehow portray her as the best singer, they were right to because they already had the concept planned out before they got Liz,Leon and Ariana. They’re not going to go back on a promise that they made to Victoria just because they got better trained singers. No matter who they got, the side characters were always just going to be side characters and valued like a side character. It would be completely wrong and unethical if they let the others get more opportunities seeing as the show was made for her to shine in, that’s what she signed up for. Every spotlight that people claim that she “stole” was completely deserved seeing as she was always going to be the main character from the beginning, she was promised a big opportunity and there would be no show without her. Who cares if it “doesn’t make sense”, it’s a Dan Schneider Kids TV Scripted sitcom made to entertain kids and it did that. No kid is looking deeply into any plot holes or inconsistencies, they’re just enjoying what’s in front of them. Legitimately, there’s inconsistencies in every kids show, ICarly/Drake and Josh, but Victorious is the only one singled out as if it’s supposed to be some reality TV show.

@@Stinsation I understand what the episode was about, I was trying to give you another example of Tori being the solution to a problem that they could not fix themselves with their talent as if they are incapable of doing so themselves. I am not the only one who has seen it constantly going on, and noticed it when I was a kid watching the show. Kids are not oblivious to what goes on in shows, how do you think we all saw what was happening? There are A LOT of people who feel the same as I do, just look at the comment section. I know that they had a show planned already, but you have to understand that with how they wanted to have the show play out (and have it look like it made sense) the way that they did they should have hired actors and actresses who do not outshine the main character. I know that you said they did not want to pass up an opportunity with such talented individuals, but look how we all are pointing out how goofy it looks. If you wanna run a show, or movie, you have to make sure the plot and characters line up and make sure you are hiring individuals that align with the message you are trying to convey. Again, with the way they wanted the show to move, Tori being the talented main character who is the star, they should not have had individuals in the show who could have done what she did and more. It made no sense with how they wanted the show to look. I understand where you may be coming from, but this is not something that I just came up with over night and I am spewing nonsense. This is something a lot of us have noticed since we watched the show when we were younger.

i feel like beck was supposed to be more in the theatre/acting oriented part if the performing arts rather than singing. tori was probably just singing, andre was instruments, singing, and songwriting, jade was probably film/filmmaking and singing, and ig robbie was just there? unless ventriloquism is a performing art but I don't really consider it an art form? idk, but this is just quick random character analysis edit: I forgot that robbie can play guitar lmao, so there's instruments and he can operate stuff backstage like sinjin in tech crew and stuff.
