Well, in majority of the Games that I have played (except FRLG, XY and Sw Sh), they are meh (i hate the Sinnoh one). The only that I think that are good is Unova and Hoeen.

Damn, the Unova badge gates really remind you how much Gamefreak used to care about these games. They made lots of 3D models (which are only used in this one area!) and layered the music in 8 tracks (which is certainly not easy on the DS!) just to give players an amazing 1-minute experience of walking through these gates. You will never return to this place. All of this effort just for that one single minute.

​@@Sam-TheFullBulland you aren't wrong GF and Pokémon love gen 5 with every fiber of there being and when gen 5 remakes hit I'm gonna head back to Unova once more 13 to 14 years later and experience the love I once had for Pokémon all over again. Can't wait for the relic castle resort victory road hopefully it's a true remake where they mash both BW and BW2 together and add the areas in BW2 to the remakes so they can be explored and post story with black and or white kyurem that would be insane but also welcome tbh.

Really love how rather than walking through a straight forward cave, you're climbing to the top of a mountain, so it feels like you're at the top of the world, especially once you climb that final giant staircase before the champion's room

Oh boy, the gates. I remember how It’d get more and more intense, the closer you got to victory road itself. The flying-themed gate especially. Spent who knows how long floating up and down constantly. Great fun, that. I remember having to slide down specific parts of the cliff to traverse. I remember the exact heart rate I was at when I finally reached the top. And most importantly, sliding down that one part of the cliff that took you all the way down to the bottom. Pokemon White version was my first, and I had more fun playing that than anything I’ve played since. 🙂

This will always be my favorite version of Victory Road. The gate guards always had unique dialogue matching to your badges, the level design fit with each Gym Leader, the grand musical score that increased in intensity with each successive gate; it really made me feel like I was reaching the toughest battles of my life. Unova nailed this experience perfectly and your remix did the trick. The only thing I think would have made this better was if you had the player character talk to each guard. I liked what they had to say.

I love the ominous build up route 10 and victory road have in Black and White. It's not like the other games where you're just going to go beat up some chumps so you can be the champion of like 5 towns or whatever, you're a hero marching up this mountain to face your arch enemy and decide the fate of the world with your legendary dragons, a repeat of a historic battle that spans back to the founding of your whole home region. You aren't fighting to just be the best or get badges or some vague thing like that, you're a hero on a journey to save the world by becoming strong enough to stop N from achieving his goal and taking everyone's Pokemon away. It's the rival dynamic brought up to 100. Your friends and the professor come to give you encouragement and you can see how worried characters like Cheren are and how helpless they feel that they can't really help, this is your mission, only you can stop Team Plasma. The title of champion is really important here, the winner decides the fate of all people and Pokemon. This is the only game to give the league weight and meaning beyond just the usual stuff about being the best or whatever.
