"Victory Song" - Chinese Patriotic Song

Used in the context of both the communists and the nationalists, this song honours the achievements of the Chinese resistance during ww2. Seeing as almost all of the conventional fighting was done single-handedly by the nationalist forces alone, their flag is represented, although the communists still played a miniscule part in some instances.

@@jerrell1169 It wasn't fascist but it was definitly despotic. taiwan was a dictatorship until pretty recently in history actually. i'd say if they won the civil war they'd be as bad as the PRC. It's quite hard to govern such a big country democratically, even in places which are somewhat democratic like india, elections are a massive hassle to hold. Fascism reffers to something which is so vague it's quite hard to accuse anyone of being fascist unless they don't claim to fight for democracy. The KMT definitly wished for a democratic china, but so did the CCP ? Does that mean the CCP is fascist ? Of course it's quite an interesting question but i'm not sure anyone in a fucking yt comment section can find a satisfactory answer. As a Japanese, I would like to pay a massive respect to the Chinese soldiers who bravely fought the war. We literally captured their capital twice (Nanjing and Wuhan). No major power went to a total intervention until 1941. The situations were awful for them, yet they never ever gave up and protected their independence. Without any of the manpower or equipment that the NRA possessed, the communists had leaders far more dedicated and competent. American and British forces in Burma literally had to pay NRA officers bribes in order for them to do their jobs, and even then they failed to cooperate

As a Korean, we appreciate ROC and Mr. Chiang for his full scale support over our independence fight during the colonial period. Mr. Chiang is actually conferred the National Founding Hero medal of South Korea. If China had not been communized, there would be no North Korea and all 3 countries can cooperate together under the torch of liberty and democracy. @@alamba1165 That may be the case, but at least there is still a chance for the KMT to democratize. The KMT crafted their entire movement on an eventual transition to a democracy. While that might not be the case practically speaking, there will be those few believers who will still fight on for a democratic China. There were still people in the KMT who still believed in fulfilling the last of the Three Principles, so I'm sure that China would democratize, eventually. The PRC, on the other hand will not tolerate any opposition at all, considering the burn-it-all down nature of socialism, no matter it's variation.

I'm not so sure. Had you given Chiang Mao's power, the result could have been even worse. As far as I know, an indication could be the "wansui", a proclamation used for Emperors. It was used for Mao during the cultural revolution, not before or after. It started being used for Chiang right after the victory against Japan, imagine if he had been an autocrat for 20 years like Mao. It might seem a nitpick, but I think this minor point can say a lot about the power of a cult of personality in China. Also even in Taiwan, where Chiang didn't have much power and was practically dependent on the USA, there wasn't any real movement towards democratisation during his lifetime.
