Hot take...this is a competitive mode and there is no issue with letting people settle into whatever tier they deserve. We do this in AW. I myself is in an alliance that has settled into gold 1 or 2. No problem there. It is also not a problem that higher tiers get better rewards and lower tiers don't. That's competition. It is okay in AQ and AW. The big problem is that Kabam is mixing participation rewards with competitive rewards. Having to reach the GC to get the deathless piece is what makes this problematic. Moving the magnetron crystals to objective is a good first step, but it would have been better to allow maybe 3-5 losses to achieve it even if you cant win.

@@VestasCure no I mean I disagree with the change but I don’t think this change is going to punish bigger accounts I do disagree with “Progression level matchmaking” that will only result in players who recently moved up a title being punished I just became paragon like a week or two ago there’s no way in hell you can tell me that I’ll be able to “fairly” fight against someone who has been paragon far longer than me with nothing but Rank 5 Ascended 6*s in their deck

@@CastleFrank0819 I know, both myself and the original commenter both said that this change isn't going to punish bigger accounts, it will give them higher chances easier fights up until Platinum where it will go back to normal. Also I don't think there's anything in here saying that progression matchmaking is implemented nor planned? Unless I missed that.

the thing with bg is i always thought it should be purely ranked-based. it's supposed to be the most competitive game mode like aw, aw is based on alliance rating and not roster. BG also has the best rewards in the game (monthly) and not every will be able to clear necropolis so not everyone should expect to make it to gladiator's circuit

There is no good solution other than making different battlegrounds based on your progress. So there is a valiant battlegrounds and a cavalier battlegrounds, etc. No, it’s not fair to face bigger accounts but it is also not fair to have big accounts only move up by facing big accounts. It slows everyone down.

progression based separation would improve it but i dont think its a complete fix, because even with progression titles there could be a lot of disparity between accounts (newer paragon vs someone with full deck of 6* r4 and higher), and situations like this have happened to me some times as well

Bigger accounts put more time and money into game. Like all parts of the game, the more time or money invested, the easier the game is. That applies to BGs as well.

The point you made about someone being seeded plat 1, not really playing, then being matched against a lower tier roster is moot. The matchmaking was already like this starting in Plat, so anything plat and higher in VT is completely unchanged. My opinion on it, it's going to be rough for this season and maybe one more while, like Kabam said, the ranks kind of even out and clean themselves up, but I do think it will be a more balanced system overall once that's done. Do I think this was a perfect change? No, there are obviously some issues. But at the end of the day, this is kind of the same argument as to why later content has nodes built so that you require a diverse/strong roster, this is a game built around collecting different champs and ranking them up. You shouldn't expect to be able to get to the end game, in this case GC, with a weak roster/on a super early account. Edit: Someone did make a very good point on cost of entry to battlegrounds, that might be a really good way of helping to balance this out. Maybe cost/rewards should be based on your progression level.

if you ask me, the more powerful accounts should be able to progress faster to the circuit. it just gets disrupted if they hang back for easier wins or even farm for points. can’t they just give to end game players a time limited (like first two weeks availability) incentive rewards in the vibranium 1 milestone? if this still won’t work, i don’t know what will.

I'm a valiant player with 3.3 mil hero rating and 20,085 prestige and I was feeling bad for all the smaller accounts I was going against from bronze 5 to gold 5. I won every match and round. It was very unfair for them to the point some even just forfeit the match. But as soon as I hit gold 5 it started to get unfair for me. I'm now in diamond 5 and can't even get past the minimum of 2 wins to move up to diamond 4. It has been such a pain to get to this point and all I'm interested in is at least the 7* shards in diamond 1 but seeing how it has been a nightmare to me now. I might just give up because my losing streak is WAY higher than my winning streak to the point it's just unfair. I was thinking I was going to make it to gladiators' circuit for the first time at the beginning of this battlegrounds season, but my dreams have been crushed and I'm done with this battlegrounds season just like all the others. I don't understand how anyone close to my account are making it to gladiator's circuit and I am unable to. I even have 14 cosmic champs and a good amount of them are top tier. I have even been ranking up a bunch of the really good defenders recently and they are not helping anymore. I just don't know what I'm doing wrong and sorry this is such a long comment.

That's because you started in bronze and Not in Gokd 5 probably because you didn't get into the GC last season so yeah your gonna be facing the smallest of accounts starting at the lowest point from here on out everyone who makes it into the GC will start in Diamond and move up from there to the GC. Therefore we shouldn't see alot of Cav and below next season unless they make it to the GC which if that's possible awesome but its gonna be brutal for them 😅.

@@faustoutloud Yeah I started in bronze 5 because I didn't do this much battlegrounds before this since it was accounts that had my roster but had better skill then me or just larger accounts then me. I also didn't have many defenders like 3+ seasons ago so that didn't help. I think I got to silver last season but the highest rank I have gotten to was somewhere in diamond but that was that one season they allowed conqueror players to play so this season is a big improvement for me 😅. It's still a big pain though since ever since I completed platinum 1, I have had 3 wins and 10 losses with more probably to come if I want to get to at least diamond 1 and way more for gladiators' circuit.

Yeah, I have 3.3mil roster too, most of the time its about fair I face 3 to 5 mil rosters which is fair and fine, but sometimes its 1mil and even lower, but also sometimes I face 7mil rosters with 25k prestige somehow?

I find if you wait a couple weeks till near the end. The smaller accounts will be up into diamond and further. Making progress though unfair. Easier yo go up

I'm so glad I'm on the other side of the coin now being one of the bigger accounts and can breeze through the VT as of recent. But it took a couple of years of hard work and consistency but it paid off and for the longest time I was on the small account side of the coin and I get the frustration they feel. The only solution to this is to accept it, don't complain, and keep progressing, playing, and building your account and eventually you'll become/get closer to the big guys like I did.

You chose to look at only one part of the comment and criticize it but in reality anyone who reads it can learn the vital lesson from it which is the only way to fix the matchmaking issue is to put your head down, work hard, and keep building/progressing and you can close the distance between yourself and the big dogs. I've only been big for 2-3 seasons now but I've been on the smaller side for the better part of 2 years.

it would help if they adjusted the cost to match this. Smaller accounts are stepping stones for bigger accounts, so the smaller accounts are losing at a disproportionate rate and paying for it. Thanks for the info KT, I had no idea this was happening.

Hey Kt, I'm a long time fan. I have to listen to your videos through my phone while at work. Your microphone picks up a lot of reflection in your recording environment. It makes it hard to understand you clearly. I would like to offer some supportive advice. If you have glass flat desk place a towel over it. It will cut out reflections in your voice to your mic. I finally like that my 10 year old account is winning. I hope they don't change it. Maybe after other have played for 10 years, they will have a bigger roster. I still hate bgs. However, this has made it more bearable.

I think the solution is to not lose a medallion. You win to if you win you lose nothing if you lose, and that makes everyone happy.

I am a 3.7 mil hero eating valiant account and I will say that at the beginning of this season it was BAD. I was being matched with 9mil accounts who have max sig 7*s galore. However, now I am in diamond 1 and I will say that matchmaking has gotten better. This question of matchmaking exists in every multiplayer game, most notably with being autofilled in roles. I have always believed one should never be autofilled no matter how long the queue is. In MCOC, this would be account matching. No matter how long queue times are, I should be matched with someone within maybe 30% of my account strength either way.

Why can't there be Timer-based matchmaking implemented? Such as "Default match with someone + or - 500 of your rating. Every 15 seconds on waiting timer results on range increasing another 500." Seems straightforward and fair to me. (My account is 18k, I go against everyone over and under the Sun)

By rating do you mean prestige? That's not a great indicator of roster strength. Someone can have 5 champions ranked giving them a prestige of 10,000, then basically have nothing else. Whereas someone else could have 5 champs ranked giving them prestige of 10,000, then have another 20 champs ranked up that are just lower prestige.

@@VestasCure That's the best parameter, there's no other metric to determine matchmaking. We're talking about matching that's - "straightforward and fair". You are referring to Top Heavy Rosters, and yes, I did take that into consideration. By default, 10k rating, regardless of the whole roster would do a lot better facing their own rating than someone like me at 18k. The Seeding, this season, wasn't even done correctly, and it actually does help in BG, despite what people criticize about it.

@@Mr2200 there are other ways to create parameters. For instance, GC has a literal ranking system based on skill. Your GC rank is a visual representation of your MMR. The problem here is literally VT, and realistically the best approach is to remove it.

I understand that they re doing this to make big accounts move faster to GC, it can work in theory, but the problem is point farming. If they can't solve this, every other progression idea is futile.

Between the changes in the medals and seeding it can work. Kabam is just going to have to stay on top of it and adjust the parameters. It’s definitely going to be a bumpy ride though. Also I have to accept the fact that I am a “whale” now lol. A small one like a beluga whale (5.3 mil account) but I qualify now because I didn’t have any issues getting to GC lol. I didn’t notice matchmaking had changed lol. I faced plenty of accounts with six to seven rank three 7 stars and was unfazed. I can no longer relate to most peoples struggles.

Yeah I suppose this explains why so many people quit out this season when they see my deck. Not that my roster is massive, but I have noticed a large number of decks where there still are r3 6 stars and some 5 stars.

I have 2 r3 7*, around 8 ascended 6* maxed, and rest 6* r4s. But in the last 24hrs been facing players with no r4 6*s and below, with 6* max at the least and minimum 8 7* r3s in their accounts.. Also, I am on Plat 2, these players I am facing are on Diamond 4.. 2 stages apart.

How is smaller accounts going to enjoy this gamemod anymore? This takes away from the skill factor making every match predetermined on luck alone because your only chance of winning is by fighting accounts that are not much bigger than yours. So a lucky paragon player might finish higher than another because he just matched 2 easy accounts in a row?

At the start of the season I queued up and it took less than 10 secs to find a match, it wasn't a fair match but it was a match, now I have to wait 1 min to 3 min for a match with pple with half of the deck has 5 stars, I feel so sorry for them coz am valiant.

I think BG is made for big accounts because small account can grow an has a lot of other stuff like act and variants and eop .etc and also they can play BG but even best player in the world with small roster shouldn't be able to get GC it is not fair for big accounts because big accounts have to face big accounts that have more experience and someone that has small account and 2 or 3 years experience can easily beat the new small roster players and get to gc but it shouldn't be that way it's not fair to someone's opponent always be easy with small roster and someone's opponent always be hard because of his roster and everybody isnt good players at least they win some matches for their time and effort they did in these years playing MCOC IT MY OPINION I HOPE NO ONE GETS MAD ABOUT IT

So well done kabam by forcing lower ACC to stop playing bg. Kabam proved that they don't need CAV TB and lower paragons to play BG and climb VT. Before 15 days when kabam said it will be easy for all to climb VT, now they clarified they made easy for valiants only. I started in silver 1, I am trying hard to climb and stucked at plat-2 since 20 hours. So now valiants will do camping in gold and destroyed us. This move made those TB paragons right who were camping in gold in previous seasons. Kabam wants to make sure BG is just for valiants and whales.

Why can’t matchmaking be based on the deck? You should be matched with someone that has about the same amount of champs at any given rank in their deck compared to yours

this can be manipulated. higher accounts can just put in their lower rank champs to get matches they like and this enables them to farm or stick around more in victory track.

Well here’s my take progression level matchmaking is kinda ignorant and will punish the hell out of ppl who recently progressed or moved up a title me for ex I just became paragon a week ago there’s no way I’ll be able to “Fairly” fight against an account that has been paragon far longer than me if anything I think they should allow us ALL to use more than 3 Bans at most we should get 5 bans also there a lot more painful punishing defenders now more than ever

I don't understand why kabam just punishes you for being a skilled player, if a player has a big account, god damn let them fight for it! why should the free to plays pay for someone's poor skill or run.. One idea would be to allow only 3 7* R3s, 10 R5s 6* and so on. So at a certain point, all opponents have similar rosters, and you have to choose your deck more strategically.

Ok, here is my proposition. The greater your total base hero rating, the greater seeded you are no matter what. Then this new match making also stays. 5mil+ seeds in diamond ALWAYS. 3mil+ seeds in plat etc.
