I also thought about buying the V4 Duchess to complement my kraken pedal. Is there a noticable difference if you connect the Kraken to a tube driven power amp instead of the solid state Duchess power amp? For the price of the Duchess pedal I can get a used Duchess head (or a kraken head).

I guess there’s always a difference since tube amp is a tube amp but the V4 Duchess comes pretty damn close and since it’s solid state you can use it without a load and connect it directly for example to an audio interface for (silent) recording 👌🤘.

I have the Duchess lunchbox head and 2 speaker combo. It’s so crystal clean and a perfect platform for my Kraken!! Best rig I’ve owned (having a Valve state Marshall 100W w 4x12 and a small fender 100W champion)

Great video. You got some really awesome tones from it. I had one of these a couple years ago and really regret getting rid of it. My main amp is a Mesa Mark V 25, but I was craving that modded Marshall sound. I bought a BE-OD and the Kraken preamp, fully expecting to keep the Kraken. I was A/B'ing the BE-OD and the Kraken into the power amp in of my Mark V and at the time, it didn't seem different enough from the BE-OD to justify the large price difference. I don't think I spent enough time with it, as I feel the Kraken is probably overall the better platform (I still love the BE-OD, though!).

I first bought the BE-OD deluxe, but after 1 day the 9V DC input jack broke and I returned it. Got the Kraken V4 instead and didn´t regret it at all! Better sound and feel!

This is really interesting. I also had a BE-OD deluxe and after a few days I couldn’t find the right tone for me. It’s still a good pedal, but just lacked “something”. Then I bought the Kraken and holy shit! This is my metal life now 🤘🏻🎸

Thanks! Preamp tubes needs to be changed every now & then like any tubes. Like with car tyres; the more you drive the more often you need to change the tyres.

Sounds good! I have the Kraken and Countess V4s. Currently running both into a Marshall 9100 power amp, wet/dry-ish, both mono blocks running. The Countess has an interesting ch2. sounds like if Fender tried to make a hi gain amp.

@@EugeValovirta230V I just picked up an old Peavey M-3000 Power Amp. It has an input on the back, it allows it to be used as a line out to power amps or “other equipment”. Do you think this would be something I could do? Guitar > Kraken Preamp > Peavey Power Amp > Speaker Cab

Hey man! which one did you liked the most between this one and the actual amp? I'm comparing both videos and this one sounds better to me :O (sounds cleaner and the amp has a bit too much bass, I would say that the preamp is even a bit tighter) but maybe is because of the settings, power amp and recording differences...

Does bypassing the Kraken preamp, assuming you are using the 4 cable method, mean that any other pedals in the amp's effects loop (say my the effect loop of my Marshall Origin) wouldn't be heard? For example, if I turn on a delay pedal that is in the effects loop and then bypass the kraken preamp, will the delay effect still be heard? Great demo btw

Turning on / off the Kraken shouldn’t affect the amp’s effect loop but sometimes these things work in a mysterious ways and to be 100% sure one gotta just try it out and see what happens 😎

Yes it wiil. User Manual tells you how wire it up to achieve this. So you can still have delay and reverb work whether the Kraken or original amp's preamp is switched in.

You put it directly after the Krakens "to return" and after that directly to your amps return. So basically the same way as without any preamp pedal, right before the poweramp.
