Hi Guys, great video; many thanks. Been messing about with VictronPI for two years, they are fantastic. Couple of cautions:- 1. They can create a LOT of radio interference. Check VHF is not affected by listening to a weak weather broadcast (it needs to be a weak signal) then switch PI on/off. If there is an interference problem, effect will be obvious! 2. Victron USB adaptors are expensive as they are something called galvanically isolated meaning the USB ground (negative) is not connected to serial ground (negative) where simple/cheap USB-serial adaptors are. May be difficult to understand significance of this. You will have continuous connection from house battery negative, through that USB power supply, your PI circuit board, through USB-serial adaptor to negative of the MPPT or BMV. This negative path will be in parallel with MPPT/BMV negative direct to the battery meaning a small proportion of your MPPT/BMV negative current will flow through the PI! This will probably cause no problem unless a break occurs in the main negative path; the MPPT/BMV will they try to dump its full negative current through your PI! Something somewhere will burn out and hopefully in a manner that doesn't result in too much damage. Genuine Victron cable avoid this risk by breaking this stray negative path through galvanic isolation. You can buy galvanically isolated USB-serial adaptors on Amazon for around £14; if spending £14 however, may as well buy the genuine Victron lead? Not suggesting that you don't use a £3 adaptor, just be aware of potential stray negative problem. Hope that's useful. Cheers.

Interesting project, thank you. How much did you save by doing all this compared to hooking a GX touch into your Cerbo GX? Also, did I miss something? Does this have more capability than VRM and VE Connect on my iPad?

The cheapest bundle price I could come up with was £550 UKP or $570 USD However the GUI mods give far more features than the standard Victron kit at around a third of the price + a little work to get it up and running. Same features on the VRM but much more on the touch screen. Sail Safe mate. Ant & Cid

we get even more information that we are finding useful. We have upgraded the panel surround as we were not happy with the plastic one. There is a bit on this in next weeks video. We also need to find someone that writes code locally that can help us out with a few code issues we can't seem to get to the bottom of... It's not an areas we are familiar with 😉 Hopefully we can keep pushing the boundaries and others can get the benefit Sail Safe mate. Ant & Cid.

The github links have changed because the software has been updated and the link no longer exits. (Fault = 404 not found) all other links still work.
