Those squalls looked vicious, I never sailed the Med but had lots of them in the Caribbean.

No. Our choice. We are don't wrap ourselves in cotton wool and bubble wrap when driving either.

Both Italy and Greece are EU members (unfortunately!) do you still need to check out of Greece to go to Italy?

No but, if you check out of Greece your 90/180 days stop. We then become a Vessel In Transit. under IMO regulations and travel on a Q flag to Malta where we check in with a crew list not a passport.
