Great video! I've been researching this to do as well and this video just answered a bunch of questions that I had. Keep us posted on progress, the engines look badass!

I love this project thank God you put this out because I been contemplating on putting two 5.3 ls on my 30 ft sea ray as an upgrade. If you have more videos on this project let me know man you did a awesome job on your boat.

Great video doing research now for a Ls swap in my Baja. Flywheel was hanging me up. Looks like a f body camaro flywheel works aswell. Did you go aftermarket camshaft?

You might have to swap the pan but a lot of options out there. Good luck! Have had mine out every weekend recently and all is well. Boat hauls ass.

Did you end up using heated o2 sensors to be able to make sure they worked at proper temp? Looking doing this setup in a my chaparral sunesta. May have to pick your brain some more.

The Holley Terminator X uses heated WideBand O2 sensors. Yes that's what's in there.

I have the same boat. I see you opened your engine bay to normal human size. Did you have to brace it or just left it open

Mine is a 1991. It came with the bigger opening. It still feels too small so I can't imagine what you're dealing with if it's any smaller.

what was the part #on the flywheel you used? did it require any kind of spacers or anything to hook up the outdrive shaft properly? did the main stringer mounts have to be moved forward or back? getting ready to swap a 6.0 into a boat and your info in this video was very helpful.thanks

No I bought spacers and all kinds of stuff to fit the flywheels on and didn’t need any of it. The 4.8 manual flywheel from a 2000 Silverado worked perfect as they were. Bolted directly on and the driveshaft hub also bolted directly to it. Only thing I had to do was remove the pressure plate dowel pins as there was no pressure plate.

Also, if you can avoid running a car alternator or starter on the boat that would be wise. Boats parts are ignition protected.

Yes agree but not needed in my application. The engines are MPFI and not carburated which means there is no out-gassing of fuel vapor in the bilge. The carbs create a fuel vapor problem in a sealed bilge which can ignite- which is why boats have blowers and unique starters and alternators. You never smell fuel in my bilge ever. Having said that I do have marine alternators on the boat but will likely never install the marine starters.

@@GVR1670 It doesn’t matter if your boat is carbureted or fuel injected! Either way you still have fuel tanks, fuel lines, fuel filters, fuel pressure regulator, fuel injectors and many other components that could potentially introduce fumes into a bilge! Not to mention if you get boarded by the USCG they will do a safety inspection and they will absolutely check and then issue you a fine for not complying with the regulations! Ignorance must be bliss, It is people like you for which regulations are implemented! You can’t see past your own face! How about the fact that if for some reason there was an issue and you filed an insurance claim they will come out and inspect your boat and deny your claim because your boat was not compliant! Or how about this last reason, Are you really that cheap that you are going to gamble with the safety of your family and friends over a few dollars! If you are really that cheap boating is definitely not for you! I don’t want to be harsh but it is always the people who think they know so much about the Marine and Automotive industry that make such a stupid statement such as you don’t need a Marine starter because your boat is fuel injected, It is statements like that in which I quote when people try to argue that the labor rates surrounding the Marine and Automotive Industry!

Im looking to do this swap to my inboard bass boat any chance you have a parts list and your total cost for the swap minus the motor itself

I don't have costs no. If you want to go the cheapest route- repower with what you already have. Swapping anything else will be more expensive. Parts list is in the HullTruth forums: www.thehulltruth.com/boating-forum/1177696-twin-ls-repower-mpfi-terminator-x-mercruiser-crusader-bayliner-3058-a.html

I like you fuel cooler idea, but that would scare me! Never want water in the fuel.

The coolers in these applications are not known to leak or fail. Pretty slim chance of an issue there.

The Holley Terminator X comes with heated wideband O2 sensors, which is what I used. They still work perfect with the way I hooked them up and mounted them.
