Ganapriya Academy Of Music, Dance and Drama Presents
Vaaram Oru Paadal
12th January 2025 - Week 88
Director: "Ganakala Shiromani" Dr B Govindarajan
Today we will listen to "Veedalaala Vaayilaai" a Thevaram of Saint Thirugnanasambandhar, traditionally sung in Ragam Bhairavi, Rupaka Thalam. It has been rendered by Smt Revathi Sridharan.
In this song, Thirugnanasambandhar praises Lord Sundareshwarar at Madurai (Aalavaai). He says, "The great sages who do not have any desires other than Moksha, sing about your great qualities with devotion! You do not prefer any other abode as much as the cremation grounds, and dance with a skull in your hands! Oh Lord of Madurai with tall walls, we are not able to understand your leelas!"
