I am happily surprised with this comment thread. I’m Mexican. Light eyed light-er skinned Mexican. From a small town in central California. I had, in my teens, never experienced racism in any way. I used to have my mom put my hair in as many even braids as possible. I’ve always found African and middle eastern curls gorgeous. I’ve always admired seeing a woman of color with all of her beautiful hairstyles. I’ve always been intrigued and follow so many content creators that are of color. As social media became more prominent and I was kind of “forced” out of my small town, i have witnessed so much division. The thing is, how can we get over a sigma, if we don’t all hold hands and smash those damned walls down? We won’t always agree all the time that a style or fashion is cool or beautiful.
