Thanks for the update Neville. Great work by all the guys there yet again. It's thanks to you Neville for your weekly updates that we get to see the various parts of the Lancasters being stripped down and then being restored and is a real credit to everyone there at the centre on the level and detail of work that they keep producing again and again. Just Jane is in good hands isn't she. Best wishes to you Neville and everyone at East Kirkby. 👍

Another interesting update as always, great stuff Neville. Just to clarify, Perspex is a trade name, the material is Acylic sheet, usually cast for clarity. Acetate is a different material all together and considerably cheaper. The technique talked about here is drape forming. Thin rubber sheet is a great way to pull the softened material evenly over the former.

Thank you for the question about the guns. Even in the U.S., where private ownership of military weapons is possible, exceedingly few owners of warbirds have gone through the process of having firing weapons installed, and the only case of which I'm aware, the guns (50 cal M2 on a P-51 if memory serves) were only installed several years before the owner tired of the additional paperwork required for their movement around the country, and the guns were removed and sold.

Great video Neville thank you. Good progress on the front nose. Great to see the fuselage progress coming along nicely now. Dave still working his magic I see! Very interesting Ad's update on the front Turret. Will the original front turret currently in Jane's Nose section be fully operational when restored? Thanks again Neville and looking forward to your next update.

Hi John, thanks you. The front and rear turrets are operated with hydraulic system, this will not be installed. Not sure but the system if leaking could ground the aircraft.

i really admire Adrians? work on manufacturing the 'Perspex (is brand name)' parts for the rear/front gun turrets, that's quite an art, take it from me as i have some experience using thinner sheets over heated molds and vacuum forming - with vacuum forming the mold is inverted, the sheet suspended, heated, droops, as it droops, you lower the sheet which when it covers the mold, the vacuum sucks the sheet down, it's a great process to watch, never get bored of it - i have seen videos on YT to make your own, but instead of an all in one unit, the the mold is in a box connected to a vacuum cleaner, and you use an electric oven or hob to heat the plastic - i have always wanted to try using Polycarbonate, a much harder material, but unsure of how malleable it is i have been given advice on drilling holes from a chap i knew in BAe, he suggested as most will know, drilling can snatch going onto plastics, to prevent this, its easier to use a center drill bit

Neville, thanks for another very interesting video. When you were discussing the gun turret I saw in the background a wood covered fuselage. I'm wondering if you could tell us what kind of airplane it is.

Here's a thought....Lancaster taxi rides must be raising a fair bit of cash, but I'm sure they won't want to be taxiing an airworthy Lanc, using up hours, and having turrets may limit passenger volume/access anyway.....will they be looking to build another Lanc to taxiing condition....there will be a fairly healthy aircraft in France to use......
