Thanks for watching the video. You note the studio. I have been remodeling and equipping the studio for a live audio and video feed for the past few months. I suspect that we will do the first show in May 2024. I'll post a photo when everything is ready.

I am disappointed that I have not been able to keep this channel fresh with new material. And I am aware that compared to other KZbin channels, mine is not very instructive. Over the past year I have been preoccupied with meeting my program deadlines, then an increase in the "non-radio" activities of my marketing consulting business. My retired life has been much busier than I imagined.

Every DJ I have ever known is a performer before being a record-spinner. So, we are thrilled when a listener gives us kind words. Like you, I love seeing other studio environments and how the DJ commands the controls. Regretfully, I stopped producing the show in 2021, but 38 episodes (audio) are available online at feeds.buzzsprout.com/1779409.rss

Hi Dan - Fabulous video! Thanks for sharing! I notice those year shouts are from JAM... but where are the custom sung jingles from? Thanks for providing such entertaining content!
@danacreesweekendrewind32052 жыл бұрын
You are correct, sir! JAM still offers the year shouts and sings. I decided to use just the shouts and only in the hourly intro. Before I found www.radiojingles24.com/ I spent a bunch of money on trying to get the right jingles. In the beginning, I hired a composer in NYC to write and record a 60-sec donut sing for the intro. I used it for about 4 shows before I found the British guy at 24 Hour Jingles. VERY fairly priced and has a nice selection of cuts.

I See Your Using The Rodecaster Pro, It Is An Awesome Mixer. What Word Program are you using, and what kind of font ?
@danacreesweekendrewind3205 Жыл бұрын
Ron: For my workflow, the Rodecaster Pro is a perfect fit. I understand that the Pro II has several improvements. It operates like a traditional radio studio board, including the Mic channel that mutes the monitor speakers when activated. As for the script that you see on screen; that is nothing more than a MS Word doc. I write the script, then edit on the fly as needed. Adlibing is fine, but when you are trying to deliver precise timing (for syndication, or automated use) scripting is my choice. For a tight show that fits into the space allocated, I find that writing in advance allows me to "polish" the final to tighten up the words to say the most in the least amount of time.

Love it. Nice job sir. Real radio. By the way what system are you using? I have Sam Broadcaster.
@danacreesweekendrewind3205 Жыл бұрын
Sorry for the slow response. I just got back from Europe. I know SAM has been a staple for years. I looked at several systems and decided on MegaSeg for my Mac workflow. www.megaseg.com It has been a year since I last used it. I paid $199 at the time.

Dan....do you ever stumble? Like what you're doing. What automation do you use to play music?
@danacreesweekendrewind32052 жыл бұрын
Do I stumble? I stumble like a drunken sailor. But thanks to the miracle of editing, that gets fixed in post. Each week, I usually have to restart a segment of two. For automation I settled on www.megaseg.com/ MegaSeg made for Macs. I know there is a handful of PC-based apps. You just have to choose one that works for your style.

You’re good
@danacree1982 жыл бұрын
You are kind to say so. Years of experience and guidance by some great radio people like Gary Owens (a mentor). I have come to believe that a good DJ is really a talented voice actor who knows how to connect with the listener. A lot of that is natural talent. The deep radio voice is no longer required.

@@danacree198 I’m looking to start my own radios station online and this is a great template to follow your command and engagement with the audience is super I will be studying this if you don’t mind. 🙏
@danacreesweekendrewind32052 жыл бұрын
That was my intention. I wanted to share the paperwork, as well as the program. That form took a long time to create and tweak. An automated radio station will rely much more on setting the parameters of the scheduling program (MegaSeg, AudioVault, etc) which will allow for a very detailed set of adjustments for what to play, and when. Don't forget to find those related FB pages and user groups where you can share your own discoveries and learn from others.

Scripted radio?
@danacreesweekendrewind3205 Жыл бұрын
Indeed. For this kind of show, timing is critical. Every word counts, so not the best place to ad-lib. You want to handcraft the segments to provide the most for the time allowed.
