I compared the 2015 US Kino Blu-ray to the 2024 UK Studio Canal Blu-ray (from a new 4K scan) in this comparison. I noted some odd cropping on individual shots on the 2015 release that are not cropped on the 2024 release. The sound on the 2024 release doesn’t have the same distortion in the sibilants as the 2015 release either. I’m not sure if the expanded dynamic range and resolution shows in this comparison as compressed for streaming on KZbin, so I zoomed in at 2x in the second half.

It really isn’t. Many shots are heavily cropped, as can be seen when Wyngarde enters the crypt. Try viewing the comparison in 1080p on a 4K TV and not on a mobile device. Also note the distortion in the sound on the 2015 master that is mostly gone in the new 2024 Studio Canal release (but NOT the 2024 Imprint release which reportedly reuses the prior master).

@@ChuckPenn3 sorry the AR wasn't't apparent in your examples, I just personnaly liked the darker rendering, but in the darker scenes the the 2024 rendering is more detailed. Nice to talk with you again Chuck. Did anything come of the VCI connection?
