Also thanks meriden for the property tax hikes to pay for that new system. Stellar work at town hall

The Meriden Green flood retention design worked exactly as planned and made for a minor flooding incident that quickly cleared itself that day. If they hadn't done that work Meriden would be dealing with a far greater problem in their downtown right now that would have been very expensive to fix.

So much for the park at the center of meriden which was supposed to prevent floods like that. Money well spent?

prevent? i don't think that is a realistic possibility. this project was meant to mitigate not prevent.

Used to flood like this every spring, and lasted a lot longer than a few hours. It was pretty awful but considering it's been 25 years since it's flooded it's a huge improvement. Downtown sits at the bottom like a cereal bowl. Huge hill on the east side that runs right to downtown, and the west side is a smof a huge hill coming down the east side, and the west side is a smaller hill, but it still traps the water. If we flood every 25 years we're doing much better than we ever have.

My tax dollars hard at work. It was supposed to cure that! Instead, we spent the money building Section 8 housing and further turning Meriden into a cesspool .

why is this relevant? when a man reports a news story do you comment on his looks? not every opinion merits publicity. you aren't complimenting the journalist by commenting on her looks.

DEEP making mandates on storm water runoff has created restrictions that keep the water from running off. Towns and cities are afraid to cut roadside debris to open up the ditches that the water runs off in.

Yeah this is where I live and within minutes my street turned into a lake. When the rain stopped it was within minutes that it had dissipated too. Pretty wild!
