This video is brining to an end my current streak of Video Essays, well for now anyway. This video will give you all the behind the scenes of how I make my videos, the fundamentals, the weekly and daily schedules to create a video every single week for 22 weeks solid!
It was very difficult but that phase of immersion helped me learn alot about the creating and production process.
This video is also explaining why I need to change, not because iv ran out of energy, but because I need to shift gears and focus more on my actual area of ambition which is 'filmmaking.'
Im not sure what the next stage of this journey will look like but I will share it with this community down the line, but for now I really need to give all my time and energy to developing a story which I hope will become my first lo-to-no budget feature film.
Songs:
Poldoore - Faithful Man
Brandy - Scared of Beautiful (Mogul Remix)
Poldoore & Zebuel - Hangover Blues
Poldoore - Bison Grass
Nina Simone - Feeling Good (Skyphos Remix)
Christopher Cross - Ride like the Wide

Dear Darren, I think you can scarcely imagine the amount of influence you've had on my life, and that of many others who have watched your videos. Not only did you give us good and interesting information, presented in a easily digested form, you also showed us a work ethic to inspire us. That of your own, which is beautifully underlined in this video, as well as that of other artists that have inspired you. You (together with channels like 'Every Frame a Painting', 'Channel Criswell' and 'Nerdwriter') also have inspired me to start my own channel analyzing films. I hope it will be live in a few weeks or so. It will be called Deliberately Ambiguous, if anyone is interested. Anyway, I'm looking forward to your new projects, and once again, a huge thanks for everything you've done for us. So long!

Just discovered your channel a few days ago, and I got to say your heart and knowledge about cinema really shines through your videos. I've gone through so many mediocre film channels on youtube, so when I found this one I was completely blown away. It feels like this is one of those greatly underappreciated channels that are just waiting to go viral. Your analysis videos are among the absolute best on YT. Just when i thought I knew everything about a movie, you give me details or another angle I haven't seen before. And as I'm sad to see you not doing any more videos for a while, I'm happy to see you got a new project going on. And I wish you the best of luck. (AND KEEP US UPDATED) I'll just continue my binge-watching now.....

Thank you for your wonderful content and this very uplifting video. It was quite inspiring for me and I wish you the best outcomes possible. I find myself in a very similar situation as you, having started a cinema website to push me to watch and analyze as many films as I can and learn as much as I can about the art before venturing into it on a full scale. I am nowhere near as consistent with the content and nowhere near as organizized as you, unfortunately. I actually found your channel when looking for anything with a similar name to my site (quite a coincidence!), as I was thinking of staring a KZbin channel much like yours. I believe these early steps in filmmaking can be incredibly stressful, as it is a powerful concoction of worry, doubt, exhilaration, guilt and sporadic feelings of accomplishment. I am still in those early steps, and the process you described really makes sense. Once again, I thank you, and I hope you will keep us posted with your film. Hopefully, you will start a kickstarter where we can give back a (small, unfortunately, but big in meaning) monetary form of gratitude.

Hey Darren! Loving your content here. I wanted to ask you, have you considered to make one of your analysis about "Scent of a Woman"? I don't know if it's just me but every time I watch that movie I keep finding great visual messages framed in subtle ways... Apart from the great dialog and greater acting delivery, the movie has little moments where the entire arc of the story up to that moment is framed visually, like the last scene where Frank is walking uphill with his heavy baggage back home as a visual representation for his journey throughout the movie and then there's that moment where he asks his grand nephew to help him carry it, as that young soul (Charles) who helps him find his way... The entire movie is filled with stuff like that and I'd be curious to see what else you'd find in one of your video essays :) Consider it for future videos and thanks for reading!

I found one of the best ways to measure how well you are doing compared to the biggest guys in ur field, is to average out the views on the last 20 videos on their channel, and divide it by their subscribers, and convert to a %. Then do the same on your own channel, and if you're in the same ballpark then you're doing well. Better is good. For me fortunately I'm doing twice as good as they are :D Which is great. I can do better. Different subject though.

Good luck in whatever you do. But here's somethin' for you. Take from it what you will :) Hui-tse said to Chuang-tse, "I have a large tree which no carpenter can cut into lumber. Its branches and trunk are crooked and tough, covered with bumps and depressions. No builder would turn his head to look at it. Your teachings are the same-useless, without value. Therefore, no one pays attention to them." "As you know," Chuang-tse replied, "a cat is very skilled at capturing its prey. Crouching low, it can leap in any direction, pursuing'whatever it is after. But when its attention is focused on such things, it can be easily caught with a net. On the other hand, a huge yak is not easily caught or overcome. It stands like a stone, or a cloud in the sky. But for all its strength, it cannot catch a mouse. "You complain that your tree is not valuable as lumber. But you could make use of the shade it provides, rest under its sheltering branches, and stroll beneath it, admiring its character and appearance. Since it would not be endangered by an axe, what could threaten its existence? It is useless to you only because you want to make it into something else and do not use it in its proper way."

Thanks Jimmy, I liked that passage, it reminds me of the phases, 'The ultimate resource is resourcefulness.'

I feel like you completely ignored the brilliant Scarlett Johansson 's acting in this movie, despite being very young she was quite something

Stuff the cod-philosophy of Bruce Willis that you're so attached to. They've got a name for this sort of detailed planning: OCD. Chill out and smoke some weed. That's the only way to get creative.
