@@natejohnson5767 You are missing the point which is being broke is no excuse to be dishonest, if a station manager will let you through that's great, if not then think of other ways to get to where you need to go, sure I had a bicycle, but it wasn't easy getting to where I needed to go, car pooling and hitch hiking are some other options I used to get where I needed to go somewhere really far. Either way jumping the fare gate is completely dishonest and those who do it should be caught and punished, and no I haven forgotten what it's like to be poor I was just raised to never be dishonest and pay for any service used , and to not use a service if you cant pay, some people dont seem to have such morals.

Quickly. How do you expect young citizens who simply need to get to school to pay? You think they have a thousand dollars per year to spend? Somehow you can afford to install gates and hire more security but you can’t afford to make the metro more accessible? And to the people saying just walk or ride a bike, get off your high horse. Everyone can’t walk from Virginia to Maryland, who’s about to bike 2-5 miles to work and back. What about the people who are struggling and looking for a job so they can eventually pay? Just say you don’t believe in a public transportation system that’s accessible to all. Just say you don’t like poor people. Just admit you don’t care about fare evasion, you care that you’re paying and only that you’re paying. If you really cared, you’d offer metro cards to the less fortunate. You’d set up funds and opportunities for people to be able to get cards to ride the metro. You don’t care about fare evasion, you don’t like poor people having the same access to a system you pay for, for free. You really should be mad at your officials, why haven’t they just made the fare zero? It’s not like they don’t tax us incessantly already, it’s not like the city can’t afford to put money towards the supposed debt that the jumpers are causing-even though you can logically see that the majority of jumpers aren’t actually greatly nor directly impacting the amount of money the city has coming in anyways.
