I'm currently reading House of Leaves and it's great, I recommend! Only learned after I started that it's had a weird resurgence in the past few years; I say ignore all that baggage, it's pretty awesome and creatively kind of inspiring with all the tricks it does to tell its story and the story itself is pretty interesting. What you said about Basilisk definitely feels like it'd scratch itches that house of leaves scratches for me so I'm def gonna play it, thanks for the rec!

I loved the first 10 hours of Pacific Drive. I'm a huge Sci-Fi nut, and the plot totally sucked me in. However, by hour number 13 I had had enough. Your reward for unlocking more things is they just introduce more tedium. Jesse likes the "quirks" system, but that was the straw that broke my back. I'm a 44 year old dad of 2 kids, and I'm lucky if I get 30 minutes to an hour to play a game once or twice a week. As you get further and further along in the map, the runs stretch into multiple hours. Why can't you just save in the zone?!! It's such an artificial constraint. I was so disappointed at a certain point I actually wrote a very positively worded constructive criticism email to the developers. I really want to play more, but I just don't have the time.
