I spent almost two years impersonating a sheriff, I carried a gun and a badge, tracked suspects and investigated many crimes. I never had any issues from the police and the community was nothing but happy when they saw me. Then i turned 7 and decided to be a cowboy.

The psychology behind people impersonating police officers is a fascinating one. Some people failed out of the academy but still have a thirst for law enforcement. Others have a terrible power trip and can't help but sadistically get off to telling people what to do. The worst, by far, is those who use their authority to rip people off, steal, intimidate, or commit violence/sexual violence on others. The scariest part is that the first type I listed often evolve into the second and then the third. Insecurity and low self esteem are serious mental health issues you need to address with your friends and family lest something like this yahoo be found. Fully load rifle in the trunk? In what scenario would a fake cop ever need that?

They also love the idea of having power over other people, but the part that makes these people avoid the police academy is the strict adherence to rules and regulations. It's too much studying and not enough "T.J. Hooker" action and gunplay for them, so they wouldn't join the police force under ANY circumstances. They'd rather just tell people they're a cop and walk around with a fake badge and a gun strapped to their leg and then write up pretty girls they pull over drunk driving on Friday and Saturday night and see what the girls will do to get out of a DUI ticket. It's sad and pathetic.
@hanskurtmann6781 Жыл бұрын
This was a personation not impersonation. Big difference. And dude being a 20yr state trooper and former 5yr city police. Working for these township or village sheriffs or police is nothing like say joining the LAPD etc. Many of these small town sheriffs or PD's can be merely who you know, simple tests and very little training. Joining your average city police dept usually requires an entrance exam, physical test, medical test, interview and if you pass those you get into training, duration depends on state and or agency, pass that, then on the job probation with an FTO. Only after you pass all that will you be an actual LEO. But again many small town depts are not even close to that training wise.
@AbolishtheNFA Жыл бұрын
That or they have been removed from another department and forced to surrender the heir certification and barred from service. Whichever it is a truly dangerous situation. What happens when he puts himself in a position with a pissed off victim … sorry citizen and they go hands in… take his weapon and kill ..him … a bystander whomever. That’s without stating the obvious about the real reason some of these predators impersonate those with implied authority. They want to use it to put themselves in position to harm women who are not as suspicious as men Typically are and without a doubt would likely go along with his request up until he had them locked in his car before they realize they fell into the hands of a monster. This has played out around Baton Rouge in the late 90s as a serial killer used many different uniforms and facades to gain access to them or their homes.

If only it really just was dress-up. This guy had a loaded firearm and a loaded rifle and munitions with him! He had a police vest, a sheriff's deputy jacket, and a some kind of Federal agent vest (you can see it lying in the trunk but it's not explicitly mentioned). That is f*cked up, and those workers and crew are lucky this guy didn't decide to start using them. I just can't believe those cops were so nice to him prior to the rifle being found. He still had a live firearm on him and impersonating a cop. They kept giving him the benefit of the doubt, like when they said they wouldn't handcuff him or send him to jail (before finding the rifle). But even after they found the rifle, that one officer still seemed to 'sympathise' with him when he said 'I get it. You wanna feel better about yourself.' Like wtf? Had that been anyone else he would have been thrown on the f*cking asphalt. Another officer told the one who'd be driving him to jail that he should remind the kid that any utterance he makes in the car ride was part of his Miranda rights to withhold.
