For the individuals in the comments stating the officer “shouldn’t have investigated” let me inform you as an individual that lives in this city the hotel/motel the chief is referring to is a hot spot for drugs, prostitution & is 1/2 block away from a park & school that holds summer programs for children. So the officer has every right to question someone acting strangely. I pray that this officer’s family can find peace & healing. Our community as small as we are has experienced an incredible & alarming uptick in crime over the last 5 years & this violence needs to stop everywhere.

I am very confused. I understand this investigation is in its preliminary stages, but there has to be a lot more information. 1.) Why would the suspect stand right on the street in front of a popular public business if he’d be too afraid to answer any questions about those “bags”? 2.) What was found in the bags? The murderer got away riding a bicycle. How far can a thug go on a bicycle? Police need to check the area in Delray or around the S.W. side of Detroit. The Patton Park area is highly populated with Latinos. Dix Ave is a short bike ride to Patton Park from the shooting scene. Maybe the shooter rode his bike down Schaefer Rd. to the city of River Rouge. Anyone who rides a bicycle around town is local. He's nearby.
