Enjoyed your musings mate - agree we'll likely see values drop at some point. I scaled down the collecting a while ago to focus mainly on the C64, but I still like to pick up the weird and wonderful ones I've never played

Solid response, mate, loved this video, and your collection looks great in the background. I personally won't ever be selling my collection, and I obtain 90% of my pickups in bundles, meaning that there has yet to be a massive outlay in buying anything. I look forward to the day when I can pick up a Megadrive title for a sensible amount of money rather than having to cherry-pick bundle wins off eBay lol. Loved this, mate, It was a great watch, already subbed so looking forward to your videos moving forward 🙂

I definitely collect due to the nostalgia aspect but it also confirms my stupidity and shortsightedness for letting things go that I never should have. I got shot of so many things and some of them would be worth a packet now, two biggest mistakes were probably selling a SAM Coupe and an Aquarius 2 for next to nothing years ago. Like you-I do find my 'retro room' to be a great little space to be in....I may or may not be making a little addition to the hardware collection next week-but I'm keeping slightly quiet about it until I know I can get my hands on it.....Good video Lee and good to get something during the week again.

Great to hear a VR from you. Good to hear that you still will want your collection regards the price. I think that's another frustrating thing I hear people expecting the values to always go up and see it as an investment. Like you say the interest for some of this stuff changes as less people are looking for it. I've noticed a dip in retro games prices recently. Which is great for some one like me as I can fill my shelves and enjoy the collecting better. Awesome stuff ✌️
@Tetlee2 ай бұрын
@@rollerxcore cheers buddy. Even if we downsize in future(we plan to move overaeas at some point) I will always keep a core collection as it's an essential part of me at this point. The dip is great for buyers, just a shame I have most of the stuff I want at this point as it's a good time to buy again now. There will always be some gems I'm missing though and as it happens just picked up a good one for way less than it was selling a year or two back so that's great. Fab response Lee. Some wise words in terms of gaming value and certain systems having peaked. At long as someone isn’t collecting as an investment tool then it kind of it what it is; best thing is to play and enjoy the games. Have a super duper bank hols weekend mate!!!
@Tetlee2 ай бұрын
@@RetroEdUK thanks Ed, hope you have a good one too buddy. Yeah hobby collecting should never be about investment as this type of thing will always have a time limited audience to a degree. I do slightly wish I'd been starting out with these much lower prices rather than at the stage where I already have most of the stuff I want ti not take advantage of them😄
@retroimportgamer5132 ай бұрын
Great video that Lee, I completely agree with all you said Definitely prices will drop significantly on 8bit I think, like you said, it's already past it's peak, think 16bit will also drop but not perhaps quite as much as it was the peak of 2D gaming which I can see always having some interest to younger generations, could easily be wrong though I was thinking of doing one of these but there's been so many now🤔 Enjoyed that mate 👍
@Tetlee2 ай бұрын
@@retroimportgamer513 you have a fair point there about the pinnacle of 2D gaming, but with so many remasters etc. will the younger generation have aby interest in collecting any of this stuff? Only time will tell I guess. You should definitely do one if you feel to, more the merrier and I for one really enjoy seeing each persons take, get it done James🙂👍
@RETRORECLAIMER2 ай бұрын
I definitely believe we are at a peak with regards to prices. 360 and PS3 will continue to rise for a while but I think older generations will start to drop soon and when the collectors who view it as investment get wind, they will start selling up and prices will come down. I'll be scooping them all up 🤣 great VR, been loving these videos going round. You've highlighted a couple that I haven't watched neither, so thanks for that 👍
@Tetlee2 ай бұрын
@@RETRORECLAIMER yep definitely agree, the peak has been and gone for 8bit era I feel(Atari 2600 had a bit of a second wind thanks to 2600+) and probably 16bit nearing its peak. PS3/360 will have a while in a sun now as younger generations get into for them retro gaming. I was speaking to somebody a while back that collects dinky cars and they were rightly saying that all these things have their life cycles as the people that grew up with the stuff leave the collecting the next generation have no nostalgia for it so prices crash. Part of collecting but its those that see it as an investment that are the ones that could be set for the fall. Cheers for watching mate, really did enjoy your vid, great watch👍

Top marks Lee . Great to hear honest original chit chat concerning your views and loves . We are lucky to have these small groups of retro gamers who have total respect to each other . It’s interesting you mentioned the bubble burst of 8 bit - does this worry you along with constant up keep of the old tech and fatigue with disc and cassette . I’d like to think the prices have stalled due to uncertainty with the economy in the uk . Hopefully the county will settle down . May I ask what made you start the you tube up bud ? Best wishes as ever Russ 🕹️👍🏻
@Tetlee2 ай бұрын
@@rusty8ucket cheers Russ, I wouldn't say it worries me as I plan to keep as much as I can of my collection and have certainly become more careful about what I pick up as I don't want games in my collection that I don't want to keep. Sometimes you buy something, play it again and then realise it no longer holds up to your memories. Only thing I'm aware of is should we move overseas(which we plan to at some point), I will have to slim the collection right down. Thats last question was a very good one and something I've thought about basing a video on, might reply to that in a regular pickups vid or possibly do a seperate video as I like that question. Cheers Russ, hope you're having a great bank holiday weekend.

Thats interesting re the speccy games, i suppose if youve bought the games(items) at a peak time then sure once the markets settle you'll of lost money if you then decide to move them on, if however they owe you very little from the start then its a mute point as it would be if you dont plan the sell them, i think far too much emphasis is placed on their value imho that seems to be the "non collectors" first questions/thoughts and its telling when people say stuff as it shows their direction of travel.
