When Sandstorm eventually comes out in US retail, I will be getting him, especially since I missed out on the Thrilling 30 Sandstorm figure (which was a heavy pretool of Thrilling 30 Springer, which I have), which had been the only triple changing Sandstorm figure in existence until now.

that last sentence isn't technically true! united and t30 sandstorm are the only official triple changing sandstorms since 1986. there was an old legion class for hftd and a scout class for gdo both of which only turn into dune buggies. there are also 2 g1 sandstorm 3rd party figures (unique toys and dr wu/mft)

Fun fact: T30 sandstorm was not a retool of springer, its actually the other way around The designer rick roche recently came out and mentioned he designed sandstorm first, then one of the other team members made springer out of it So really, springers the retool, not sandstorm (The TFwiki really needs to be updated)

Something about it seems as if Hasbro had a full on Hasbruh moment and seriously screwed the pooch here, just like they did with Legacy Blitzwing's gimped alt modes and Siege Astrotrain's wonky shuttle mode...and they had the balls to repaint it and slap a Jazz style head on it to call it Galaxy Shuttle. Yes, the Thrilling 30 Sandstorm had a VTOL instead of a traditional helicopter; this was likely because he was the pretool for the Thrilling 30 Springer (who somehow came out first). BUT, it made for an absosmurfinlutely badass armored dune buggy mode that really stands out from Springer's wonky Dollar and a Quarter Tree Batmobile lookin' thingy. (Besides, the mold got a traditional enough helicopter with Springer's, but the way the forearms work doesn't hold up well over time...) But we'll see. Maybe Legacy United Sandstorm can finally supplant my T30 Sandstorm...or maybe it won't.

I'm at the vehicle mode now. I like it actually. I'm surprised by that, because the pics I've seen do it no favors, but getting to look all around it, I gotta say, it looks good to me. Certainly better than Astrotrains shuttle, and Blitzwing's jet modes. The way the back is higher than the front, is accurate for most dune buggy type vehicles, so much so, that typically the back wheels are a fair bit larger than the front.

Looks like a decent figure. I have T30 Sandstorm so don't really feel a need to get this one. However, I would love to see it repainted in a G1-ified version of either Bayverse or Animated Blackout.

unique toys one is SUPER complicated and a bit frustrating to transform... but the solidity of it... and its not a lot much costly, yeah I'd go for UT, but the legacy is still pretty neat

Good figure and all, however I don't see a reason why this couldn't be a deluxe size class figure. After all the combiner wars deluxe figures could go from a vehicle to a robot and a arm or a leg. Of course they made the triple changers, voyager class just so they could charge more but Either then that, they could have made them deluxe size.

i did mention few times in the video, 2 stores, local here in montreal, i even mention the store in the video, they had them on their websites for sale... they sold out in under an hour.... got my hands on sandstorm and silverbolt before everything else was wiped clean... and since i'm also local, the shiping was only 1 day so got to do the review real soon... but we started getting them, i'm sure other stores will also start to get them soon enough.

So, the way you had the wheels flipped with the rim on the inside, in bot mode? Can you not orient them that way in chopper mode? If not, it's certainly not a deal breaker, because I'm with you 100%, that helicopter is freakin amazing! Bot mode is really good, buggy mode is the weakest, but I still kinda dig it. He's a great looking voyager, well worth the voyager pri.... oh wait, DAFUQ!

Ya know, with Tidalwave coming in Titan class. How cool would it be for Broadside to be a commander class or hell, even Titan. Being in that $200 bracket might hurt his sales though. I can't go that much on figures. One Titan class is bigger than my average monthly bot budget. Hasbro is very quickly pricing me out of collecting. I'm to the point where, if they do another hike anytime soon, I'm out. It'll clearly be $59 on a leader, $39 and $29 for voyager and deluxe. For you "Canadian right aye?" you'll be looking at like 80 freakin bucks for a leader, I bet you, on the next price gouge.. I mean inflationary increase lol@@Tef-Tef

Man, at a leader price point, they absolutely should have made those wheels on his legs, fold in to make his calves. It's black, so sort of hard to see all the details, but from what I can see, it looks like it would've been very simple to make a hinge right there. At least he doesn't have see through forearms, I'll give him that. It just really seems like a voyager's engineering, and load out. Another example of Hasbro charging $60 US for a damn voyager. And they KNOW we're all gonna buy it, because of course we are. I hate that company, I really do. You have access to an entire wave, that hasn't even been officially revealed yet, and they wonder why they're going broke smh

Wow, that dune buggy mode looks horrible. They really shouldn't have tried to force the cage into it. I like triple changers but I'll probably pass on Sandstorm unless there are any significant third party kits to fix him.

At a Leader price point this comes off as a bit of a disappointment. Robot mode looks proportionately good, but seriously no waist swivel on the guy, and would have preferred an animation accurate head. Could easily do without the rescue cage though it part forms into the buggy mode. Buggy I feel isn't as strong as the Thrilling 30s one which I never got though the helicopter in itself is a huge improvement and definitely the mode that was prioritized over the two. I'll definitely wait for more reviews to surface before deciding as this would potentially be the first Sandstorm in my collection.
