You still need gauges to read your freon. It's not as simple as you make it. Because you still have to install the freon lines. Which when you open the valves to put the lines on your going to lose freon. Plus you will get air in the lines. Therefore you will be required to vacuum the lines. Am I correct?
@SaveGreenHere4 жыл бұрын
Charles, the process is a s simple as I make it. The refrigerant lines require no welding/soldering, and you do not lose any refrigerant because it comes in the compressor. When you release the refrigerant, the lines are already installed. You DO NOT get air in the lines if you follow proper procedure. Here are a few videos on some of those details...... kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJDEqqZ7pbN_m9U kzbin.info/www/bejne/noLNgJuNoKygg5Y kzbin.info/www/bejne/nJuyeausiqiKr9U

First of all thank you for this video and all the comments! I came here because im looking to install my own and was wondering if I could install the 14 gauge extension cord you’ve mentioned in the comments from the 120v outlet and wire it straight to the outdoor unit. The mr cool unit im looking at has a wire that runs from the indoor unit to the outdoor unit but you still need the separate power supply to the outdoor unit and was wondering if i could simply wire that Iron Forge Cable directly to the outdoor.

Hi, did you connect the power straight to the unit inside? Or did you run that wire down to your unit outside to power it?

For this particular unit, the connection was inside, as shown on the video. Just get an appliance cord (shown on the video description for this video) and you are all set. The inside unit then ran the power through the wall to the outside unit.

Tricia, I was told the 3rd gen does, like this one amzn.to/3Fme1RE but not 100% sure. That being said, you can EASILY plug inside by simply running the outside POWER cable that would normally plug outside, through the wall, and into an indoor outlet. You can even use the same hole you already drilled. Just get a strong heavy duty, 12 gauge cable like this one......... amzn.to/3B3Hq09 I personally would not go longer that 12 feet like that one. It would connect to the outdoor unit, and go to the inside of the home, and into an indoor plug. Ensure it is at least 15 amp breaker if using a 12,000 BTU unit, and no other major appliances plugged into that circuit. If using a unit over 12,000 BTU, a dedicated, larger circuit is a must!

I sugest a 9000 BTU for any 15 amp circuit like this one... amzn.to/4dcwlN0 because it only is 27 decibels, so it's super quiet. Also has heat pump mode, and is 19 SEER. These things are AWESOME, and at $450, you can't get a better deal! Now, if you must go with a 12,000 BTU system, your circuit on your breaker, where you are installing this, needs to be 20 AMP, and make sure its at MINIMUM, a 20 SEER unit. This is a great model, --->amzn.to/4dcwlN0 and it does the job for a bit of a larger space over the 9000 BTU, or for extreme hear areas, like Florida, or the Southwestern part of the USA. @imothy4 жыл бұрын
Great Video! I purchased a similar 115v Della unit on amazon. It comes with a 4wire electrical cord to connect the inside to the outside unit, and then an additional 3 wire cord to connect to an outdoor 115v circuit. I am looking at the schematic that comes with the unit, but haven't disassembled it yet, but it says there is a place to connect the 3 wire power cord to the internal wiring but optional (the connections are inside a dashed square on schematic). My question is, couldn't I just connect the 3wire power to the corresponding contacts internally as long as I have continuity to the same connection points outside? I think the only difference is the ground plug, which goes to a screw onto the main board, the positive and negative wires seem to share a connection with 2 of the wires from the 4 wire cord. If not, I could still run the 3 wire cord from outside, back through the hole in the wall, into a 3 prong outlet inside. I have also purchased a GFCI plug that has a 15 amp fuse inside of it, and running it to a dedicated circuit indoors that has a 20 or 25 amp breaker. Will this work? Hope this makes sense.... :)

So it’s not plug and play then? I thought we just made the connections and that’s it but we have to have the lines vacuumed?
@SaveGreenHere3 жыл бұрын
You can do it without vacuum, but you assume the risk of the compressor dying in 2 to 3 years, if it even makes it that far. So about $100 between a pump and gauges is a small fee to pay to not ruin a $500 to $800 unit, depending on the model. But the choice is yours.

I’ve been searching for this exact model and I haven’t had any luck. The links you’ve provided are for different systems. None of those plug in on the interior side and send a signal to the exterior unit from what I’m seeing. Would you happen to have another link or the web address? Also what is the specific brand on model? Thanks so much.

Jeffrey, they are harder to find, yes. However, you can easily make it happen. Here is what you do..... Simply buy the 110 volt model. Even in the outdoor unit is the one that "plugs" to electrical, simply run a 12 foot long wire from the outdoor unit to the indoor unit, and have that same wire run out of the indoor unit and into the wall connector. This is very easy to do, because you have a bundle of wires, and the drain line running in the same "bundle". This one is ideal for mini split systems, as it is a 12 gauge. DO not go 14 gauge or higher........ amzn.to/34gTSye

I bought a Senville 9000 BTU mini split with air and heat; I can't figure out where to connect 12/3 extension cord wires. There appears to be no place to connect to. The Senville came with 16 AWG wire for condensor and heat pump communication. After connecting that wire where does the power wire go? You're saying its okay to connect to the heat pump with a 12/2 extension cord. Is that correct? Do I connect to the same connections as the 16 AWG communication wire? I have a 110V outlet in my van that runs off my inverter. Would that work?

@@MrKeepnit100they have mount kits that screw into the wall, and they look like giant "L" bracket. It comes with bolts to bolt the outside unit to the bracket after you screw the other portion into the wall. You could mount the brackets just to the side of a window and do it all from your window. Just be careful. It would definitely be safer to use a ladder from the outside, but it could be done from a window if you use common sense and are careful. Might be smart to have a friend tie a rope, strap, extension cord, or bed sheet around you while you are doing it from the window.

The diagram on the outdoor unit has wiring for the 3 prong power cord to be wired outside, but looking at yours it seems as if I could wire it directly to the cables where they are connected to the indoor unit, to make the AC wall plug easier to do.
