Excellent Review Paul! I think I can see why mine in jet mode has the front middle part not clipping in flush I think I didn't have it bent exactly like I thought it was suppose to be and I tried many ways But I still love the figure especially for the combined mode :)

Paul! I can't believe how old school this video is! A coworker just simply gave me this figure back around Christmas. It was his sons who just didn't want it anymore. It was missing 6 pieces. The gun, missile, JTFR swivel panels, the rear detachable shield and landing gear/cane. The parts were on ebay $30 each. It just made sense to find a complete one. I found one in a trade and took all the pieces off and cleaned them. Put everything on the one my coworker gave me. It looks amazing! So happy to have this awesome figure along with Leader Prime and Megatron from ROTF.

yes it is. Just like the movie suggest, the SR-71 is in the Smithsonian Air & Space museum in Chantilly, Virginia. It's pretty sweet up close. They also have the Concord and the Space Shuttle Enterprise. Not to be mistaken for the Air & Space museum in D.C.

My Wal-Mart had this on clearance for $22! Im glad I waited til now to get him, but I like his robot mode much better than I thought I would from how he looked in the package... My dad was a mechanic on the SR-71 with this tail number in Okanowa so been wanting this figure for a loooong time.

The pieces 'open to interpretation' that you tuck by the legs, actually clip together. You can see the knob on one side that fits into the other. They don't just get tucked into anywhere...

@optibotimus your right those dangly pieces do go beside his legs in jet mode. But idk if it's on purpose or not but if u look at him from the front those pieces look like the flaps from the landing gear on the actual blackbird.

look at his knee's the furthest screw towards the engine lookn thing ... if u tighen it that ratchet joint becomes 2 times as strong or more i did it and it surprised me how much stronger they were

good review mate!! I just bought him today to complete my collection! AND IM 31 !! lol Transformers are up there with Star Wars and Start Trek to some collectors! Some people cant understand that, it must be an age thing... guys in thier 30s grew up with original toons like M.A.S.K, Centurions, Transformers, Action Force/Gi Joe,The TMNTs, He-Man.. Paul! This video is so old! A coworker gave me this figure at work today for free. I knew it was missing the landing gear/cane... watched your vid to help me transform it. It's missing the rear end of the jet alt mode and the pieces that cover the head in alt mode. I don't know what to do. It may not be worth the hassle of finding the parts. Do you still have yours??

Hah. I got him for like 60 bucks plus shipping and handling. I don't give a damn. This figure is sooooo worth it! You're right though, i don't know what to do with those dangling things, they just kinda show them connecting somewhere, i dunno where. AND THANKS! Help! My Jetfire (exactly like yours in scale) can't turn into a plane! It's as if there was a mistake in design or manufacturing. So now I display it in the robot mode only... without ever having finished the plane mode. Somehow the top of the front fuselage can't combine... I think I'm pretty patient... but somehow the instructions aren't so clear for Jetfire. Is it because it is so big? So many parts? Am I the only one with this problem? Please help. Thanks.

If you watch the movie closely, the front of the plane is his head, not his arms. The cockpit sits on the top of his head, like a helmet. Just wanted to point that out.
