Made this. After using the wrong interfacing (next time I'll use a thicker stickable vinyl or herringbone style) and not adding the binding before sewing the stack and not trimming before flipping, got it done. Added some extra stitch lines to make it less floppy and added both a pull (and hanging) tab on the flap and another hanging tab on the back (I had left over binding strip). I even took the zipper from the bed sheet bag i took the vinyl from. Neat.

I discovered a great tip when sewing with vinyl…put the tissue paper that comes with the vinyl on the bottom next to the machine side and it doesn’t stick to the bed. So easy! Hope this helps someone.

Wow, just made this pouch and it is beautiful. I followed your written instructions (with photos) easily and exactly according to your measurements. Although, I did use a 4" velcro closure instead of a snap and added a loop for hanging. I used one fat quarter only (front and lining the same fabric with a contrasting zipper). My finished measurements are 7" wide by 6.5" high and about 1/2" thick empty. Have no idea at this moment what I'll use it for, but am thinking both a small sewing kit and a first-aid kit may work, and keeping it in the car could come in useful, or it would work perfectly as a cosmetic bag. Thank you for the excellent instructions!

I like the idea of reusing the vinyl from purchasing sheets. Thanks for that as I wasn't sure if it would work as well.

Thanks for sharing this video....I’m fairly new to practical sewing, but you made it look so easy! It was, except that when I downloaded the pattern and cut it out, then cut my fabric pieces from it it was about a third the size of yours! Is it possible for you to put the actual dimensions of the Fabric required, so I can have another try and make it the proper size next time? I would be very grateful, thank you!

Great tutorial! I've had the pattern printed out a while and watching you has encouraged me to actually make it. I use to have a problem sewing the open end of zippers because they'd always want to come apart but I discovered the method of using a zigzag stitch (with a stitch length of 0) while the zipper is vertical rather than horizontal and it works like a charm. Thanks for the inspiration!

I've avoided pouches with vinyl, but you make it look so easy, especially the zipper part! I think I have everything I need to make one of these; that is if I can find the vinyl and zippers in my messy sewing room. One question though. Do you use a bigger stitch when sewing with vinyl, or is that only if you are sewing vinyl to vinyl?
@SewCanShe6 жыл бұрын
Good question! Yes I do use a slightly longer stitch length because I don’t want to perforate the vinyl too much. About a 3 on my machine. So glad you enjoyed the video. xoxo

Why is it so frustrating to obtain a VREE pattern....one I already have?? I had it. Love it. Lost the pattern.....how do I get it again. Frustrating.....

Does anyone know what the finished size of this pouch is? I made 2 copies of the template and ended up with 2 different sizes. Apparently how you tape the pieces together can yield different sizes.

As a true beginner I felt some things were left out or not shown well. I wish you would have explained the snaps clearer. I followed the pattern and your tutorial, or so I thought, while explaining the snap and what it should be like you did not explain clearly as to how the snap would be part of the top snap, I only saw you showing four pieces and there wasn't any info about where to place the top snap in pattern then I realized that the bottom snap would be fitted into the top snap. Too late, but I had to redo snap on bottom after pouch was done making the bottom snap to have to be attached to the vinyl as well, unless I wanted to rip it all out and attach snap again. Frustrating to someone who should have enjoyed the steps and the pouch would have turned out like it should have. A true story from a beginner that may feel stressed in trying out new patterns, etc. Helpful to have a few advance warnings please.
