Continuing the investigation? Why ? Even a dumb person can see who fucked up
@gwencrawford73710 ай бұрын
They're going to do a workup to see what led to this event, and document that story and its supporting evidence. We're still talking about the violent death of a citizen... a homicide... a justifiable homicide to be sure... but a homicide. It's part of our system of checks and balances and accountability, that every premature death of a citizen is investigated, and the facts surrounding that death are documented. As an armed citizen, if I ever have to use my firearm to save my bacon from a nut like that... I hope they'll do the same kind of exhaustive investigation, and I expect they will, and they SHOULD. The power to void someone's birth certificate on our own summary command and judgment without prior review, is an awesome power every one of us possesses whether we're armed or not. With that power, comes responsibility. And if there's power and responsibility, there MUST be ACCOUNTABILITY... independent and unbiased eyes, to investigate and review what exactly happened and why, and to make a formal, documented determination on whether that use of that power was legitimately justified, or not... and if it wasn't... how that was handled by our justice system and WHY it was handled that way. I'd want that investigation... because I'd feel horrendously bad that I had ended someone's life... and I would want the reassurance that comes with an unbiased review. I would need that as part of a long-term healing process, from the trauma of ending a fellow human being's existence. It still wouldn't change the sadness I'd feel, or the fact that it'd be a difficult thing to carry with me the rest of my life... but it'd help a little.

A dangerous waste of time with the taser after his attack on others. That officer put his own life in danger and was lucky the guy didn't attack with the machete after flicking off the taser.

My thoughts too. How the hell can you confront a crazed man holding a bloody machete with just a tazer, one that's mostly ineffective in these situations. Oh yeah, I know the answer. The new woke DAs come down hard on cops, so they have to take these risks to prove shooting as a last resort

Two years ago i was walking on Wilshire Blvd in Los Angeles. There was a guy with a sword in an intersection threatening cars. After 20 minutes or so, a LA Police car with 2 officers stopped. They talked to the man, and then left. He continued to threaten cars. I stayed on the other side of the street. Since it was CA, I was unarmed. Back home in Florida I would not be. The police motto in LA seems to be protect and serve the criminals! That guy should have been detained and evaluated.

Is it just me, or can we all agree that California is a failed State and perhaps only months away from a complete social collapse? And is the rest of the country not far behind? 😢
@rbarnes407610 ай бұрын
I live in CA. It is generally peaceful in most neighborhoods. But some places you'll hear gunfire (especially at night) and crime is absurdly high in some areas (places especially where many people are on welfare or in cities where D.A.s have give up prosecuting criminals). I used to live near Pacific Coast Highway and the 110 freeway. That place was awful. I now live further south with a good police force.. things are MUCH safer here! We are MOST CERTAINLY headed to being a failed state if this continues. But right now it is not as widespread as folks in the news like to suggest. That said, portions of San Francisco and Los Angeles look a LOT like portions of Chicago. Going to those places you'll want to be armed and wearing a ballistic vest if you want to walk around, and even that isn't a guarantee you'll survive the experience.

At my local park(alondra park) south los Angeles, lived a homeless man that would walk around with weapons screaming and ranting. The cops arrest and released him frequently, then one day a man was found by the bass anglers that had his head smashed with a sledgehammer . They couldn't prove it was him till he went to El Camino college campus and struck a old lady walking her dog..... These people need help and be away from the civilians
