Apparently the teen had proper firearms training & everything you'd expect someone handling a gun to have, which is why the parents trusted him enough to give him access to the gun case. @@williamlee4619 You don't get to dictate what responsible means. Stop looking at if's and but's and start looking at consequences and results. The result here is that a kid got access to a bunch of weapons and took them to school, I don't care why or how, if this kid managed to do it, it's the parent's fault and it was a lack of responsability. Also, you think the parents gave the kid a shotgun with a real caliber for him to train and defend the house? If they did then you have your answer right then and there, irresponsability.

So, he ran in the class, shoot at the ceiling, to bring everyone's attention to himself, before trying to shoot himself. He was trying to say "Look what you all did to me". But we don't actually know, why he tried to do that. Was it bullying, or some problems with learning ? Poor guy, hopefully he got send to psychologist/therapist. Even worse that his parents had witnessed it.

Most of the time it gets to the point where the kid's opinion is irrelevant and all that matters is the kids perform better than them, almost as if they are using the kids as a way to cope with the guilt a past failure. At the sentencing hearing Thursday, Feb. 23, defense attorney Lindsay Jarvis said based on the teen’s record, she *doesn’t expect him to be in the facility for more than a year.* Juvenile Judge Janice Frost said the length of the teen’s stay at the facility will depend on his cooperation and willingness to get treatment. “We don’t act in isolation,” Frost said to the teen during the hearing. “Our actions affect other people, and it’s important for you to take responsibility for that.”
